For keepers 25 is still on the younger side, especially for elite level. In his mid-late 20s Emi Martinez was on loan at clubs such as Getafe and Reading.
Is say that's more to do with Arsenal holding onto him as a reserve as opposed to him just coming good late.

They did the same with Szeczeny, he joined Juventus at 27 after signing for Arsenal at 16

I could see Hamer playing for a top half Premier League team such as Brighton.

Perhaps Souza as well but he didn't exactly cover himself in glory last season.

Cooper is excellent too.

Still not entirely convinced by Arblaster but he's only 20 so he's hard to judge.

That’s where I think you’re wrong on Cooper. He’s as good as Sanchez now.
I’m not entirely convinced on him playing as high as Chelsea; we haven't seen enough of Cooper to make a definitive judgment. While it’s clear he has the ability to be a great keeper, he has also benefited from strong defence in front of him.

There’s been a lot of buzz on social media about him being one of the best keepers we've had in recent years, but he still needs to earn that title in my eyes. Henderson played a crucial role in securing key wins in both the Championship and Premier League—can we say Cooper has done the same?

I can’t think of a game yet where I’ve thought Cooper saved us big time there.

Perhaps I'm being a bit harsh, especially considering his impressive start & clean sheet record, but I believe the defence deserves significant credit for his success as well.

Don’t get me wrong I think he’s a very good player, I just want to see him perform in bigger games hopefully in the Prem next season

.

I don’t see any of our players being Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Chelsea players in the future though.
fair point, but then again, rewind to a raw Kyle Walker breaking thro and who’d have thought he would go on to have 1Champions league, 1 Super cup, 6 Premier leagues , 2FA cups, 4EFL’s, 5 kids, 2Mrs’s and 7figure CSA’s.

Right now Vini could operate in a Fulham/Brenford midfield

From a youth perspective I’d go Peck, when he adds goals will be budding Declan Rice type

Probably Cooper, and Arblaster if he recovers OK, but Peck and Onè could have a hell of a lot of growth in them

We have a lot of players who should improve within the period of this season so come April we really could be flying. By then I expect Gilchrist, Burrows, Seriki, JRS, Peck and Campbell (fitness) to have found another gear, like Doyle and McAtee did. It's one of the reasons I'm confident we'll go up

Mad that a 25yo is considered to have the highest ceiling.

Michael Cooper is very, very good. But he's not exactly a youngster and he plays in the most difficult position to break through to an elite level.
David Raya got his move to Arsenal at 27

Good players in bad teams harder to notice. Hench scouts and kknowledge. how could anyone shine for us last season. McAtee Hamer Souza would all be good in a better team

Cooper, need to keep him away from top clubs in January and next summer, hopefully if we get in premiership it'll help

To play devil's advocate, if he had the ceiling that a lot of people on here (given the poll) think he has, then how the hell were we able to sign him in the first place? Blaster for me, at least among those that are our players, as I can see arguments for JRS

I think a lot of our players could fit into a squad of mid table premiership team, I don’t personally see anyone higher than that though.

You could see- Anel, Cooper, Souza, JRS, Hamer, Souttar, Arblaster all being part of a Fulham/ Brighton/ Brentford/ Bournemouth squad. I’m not saying they’re good enough to play week in week out or even start but they would get in their squads.

I don’t see any of our players being Liverpool, City, Arsenal, Chelsea players in the future though.
Yeah agree with this. We have several players in our first 11 that wouldn’t look out of place in a squad for those upwardly-mobile mid table Prem teams. I think this makes us more competitive if we do go up again this year.

I voted Arblaster. Two-footedness is underrated by fans but the data crunchers absolutely love it. If he can stay fit, I wouldn’t put it past him moving to a top 6 side in a couple of years (Maybe via a mid table team if we don’t go up). The only other player I can see who has top-6 potential is Cooper but I think he’s just too small and distribution is just not quite good enough for that level. JRS, Anel, Hamer, Souza more likely to reach mid-table Prem or equivalent European club IMO. I rate them similar to Berge.

If the ceiling is international football rather than domestic, I could see Gus getting a Holland call up if we have a decent few months in the Prem. Although they generally have a great team, depth isn’t usually that strong. I’m kind of surprised he hasn’t been called up for them already. Could imagine him having a good Euros or something. He’s got a good game for the international scene.

Difficult prediction to make with so many varied candidates, and they all carry different baggage.

I agree with Cooper as he holds a unique position, and has goalkeeper longevity on his side.

Having said that, I did not consider @mattbianco1’s point about the limits of keepers opportunity at top level. It’s a best guess anyway. 🤷‍♂️

Oversight not having Hamer as an option. I would’ve said Blaster but the performances against Leeds, Boro and Wednesday tempered that a little.

Gus Hamer is already a mid table premier league attacker and could potentially but a club legend for us if we’re in the prem next season

I think despite all the recent evidence, people are still blind to the gap between the championship and the premier league.

None of our outfield players are mid table premier league players (are we really saying any of our MFs are as good as Paquetta or Guimaeres? DFs as good as Mark Guehi?)

However cooper for me is the one who could make the step up as a good keeper does the same things at any level. What’s ridiculous is, if he played 20 years ago he’d be playing for a top 7/8 team but because he’s not ‘great with his feet’ he will get overlooked. Woke nonsense

Burrows for me.

Still very young but has already captained a side to a trophy, dominated league one, made the step up to championship and has looked absolute class in his position compared to many left backs in this league. Feels like he has been with us for years and I can see him making the step up again next season (hopefully with us).

I'm tempted to say Burrows. He's been much better defensively than I expected (and his stats suggested), is good going forward and pops up with the occasional goal. I think he can improve still further and be a mid-level PL player.
If I have to pick one, it'd be Burrows. Stepped up into the Championship with ease. Teams don't (or can't) attack down his side, and I don't think that's simply down to his defensive attributes but more because he's so good on the ball that pressing him gets you nowhere, whereas pressing Gilchrist gets you somewhere. Definitely think he'll have a career in the top-flight, with Cooper/Arblaster/Peck/Anel not far behind.

Cooper, as an English GK, should have at least 5 years in the PL with us or someone else. Wonder if his ball-playing (not a weakness, but not really a strength either) has stopped him thus far.

Mad that a 25yo is considered to have the highest ceiling.

Michael Cooper is very, very good. But he's not exactly a youngster and he plays in the most difficult position to break through to an elite level.
25 yo is young for a goalkeeper

There’s a shortage of quality English left backs- if he carries on with his current rate of development, burrows has a great chance of getting in that squad.

I’m surprised at a couple of comments about Cooper’s ball playing being not great.

He regularly threads passes through attackers on the floor into midfield and into gaps Montgomery couldn’t pass through 😂 just cos the odd long ball goes wayward, that’s not really a tool the modern day keeper is judged on and plus it can be worked on anyway

We're in a fortunate position where a lot of our players have great potential.

Cooper - 25 and already the best keeper in the Championship. No reason he can't be a top EPL keeper and an England international.
Burrows - 22- The step up a division has been seamless. If he keeps progressing then could be the best LWB in the country.
Arblaster - 20 - Like to see how good he is in this league without carrying an injury. What most impresses about him is that for someone so young and inexperienced he is such a mature footballer. Whether he has the ability or physical characteristics to go all the way is another thing, but certainly has the temperament. Reminds me a lot of a young Declan Rice.
Peck - 20 - Played less than 20 league games in his life and already an established midfielder in the (current) best team in the Championship. Not enough is said about that. I think he has much more potential than Arblaster in terms of ability.
Souza - 25 - Imagine what a player he would be playing purely as a DM? I'm not convinced he has the right characteristics to make it in the EPL but could see him moving to a top European side in one of the next transfer windows.
Hamer - 27 - Might seem odd listing him here but he's a sportscar of a footballer, but not one built for the EPL. Again, I can see him going to a top European team and being a huge star.
