Where will the goals come from?

Not bothered if it reflects well on me as long as we do something about it. The last thing I want is for the club to end up in a relegation battle due to not quite doing enough in the transfer market.

Questions need asking of you here, so what type of striker? How much? Where from? And the big question....if we got this player....bearing in mind Bristol just threw £5m at a player from France with Zero pedigree...and thus player then got injured, what do we do then?

You are basically saying NONE of the strikers are good enough. Because by implying that unless we get a new striker we are screwed suggests we simply will not manage and may as well give in. It's taking no account of the system, or the actual ability of that player once he has better players alongside him creating better chances.

I'm not saying that, no, but I do worry where the goals are coming from. Our defenders aren't going to get the space in the box they got last year and we didn't actually get that many goals from midfield.
I don't think we'll be in a relegation battle cos I think Wilder is too good of a manager but as a newly promoted side it's always a worry when you're stepping into the unknown.

Doesn't need to be £5mil either, plenty of decent forwards available on loan deals or in the foreign market.

Also last season we played plenty of games with Scougall supporting Sharp. I bet if you count Lavery's, Clarkey's and Hanson's starts together you wouldn't get 30.

So of course they wouldn't have scored as many (particularly as Clarke was injured and Hanson never scored anyway).

TBH I don't think Hanson will play much, but he could ruffle a few feathers in the last 10 mins if needed.

Would it surprise anyone if we went route 1 trying to win an equaliser vs the pigs and he popped up with an important knock across goal for the equaliser?

Carruthers has only scored 8 in his entire career!

There are plenty of goals throughout the team but if Sharp gets injured you do have to worry that it leaves a big hole.

I agree on Carruthers, although we look to playing him as Attacking Mid, he offers that ability to close midfielders down and sit out rather than going forward and attacking the space in behind the front 1 or 2. This allows the wing backs to get forward as well.

As for the "what ifs and maybes" around Sharp staying fit, that's why we have Lavery, Clarke and Ched. All of whom can play a role that might not be prolific, but will get goals and create chances. Thats why Preseason hasn't just been the Billy Sharp Striking show, but spreading the strikey love around

For the last 2 seasons in the championship 7 players have scored more than 15 goals in a season.
Of last season's 7, 3 will be playing premiership football next season leaving the following:
Wood (Leeds, why hasn't somebody come in for him?)
Kodjia (Villa, the only player to be over 15 in both seasons previously with Bristol city)
Kermogant (Reading)
Jerome (Norwich)
Of the teams relegated from the Premiership Negredo, Snodgrass & Defoe have all left their clubs, leaving them with players who scored no more than 4 goals in a Premiership season.
Where will the goals come from? It's a reasonable question and I'll wager all but 2 teams supporters are pondering the same question.

Good game, good game as brucie would say. Shame the thread has been hijacked somewhat. My 55 prediction tells me that I think we need another striker if we want to have a proper go at it.

I'd guess another 8 from players not yet at the club would need to be added
