Where is Bettis?

Where has Bettis been in all this chaos? As CEO he is meant to be the face of the club, he's the person behind the day to day running of the club. He's the one who should be coming out and addressing the fans.
He will do. They're just waiting on AI to translate "stop being a bunch of impatient cunts" into something that is PG-13

Funnily enough, I thought I saw Bettis when I was out buying dog food at Dearne Valley Pet Centre, the other day.

I even took a photo:

I imagine, or at least hope that he is busting his bollocks trying to get at least 3 deals over the line tomorrow ( now that it seems Hamer is off ).

He has a good record of fronting up for interviews at big moments to be fair (Wilder sacking 1, Ndaye leaving etc..) so let's see where we are when the window shuts tomorrow.

I'm not sure what people want him to say.

Football is a business and there aren't many CEO/Directors's come out and speak about performances/business plans etc etc.

We probably all spend a hell of a lot more money at supermarkets, but we dont call for the CEOs or directors to come out and explain why our food shops are getting more and more expensive (perhaps we should).

I get people are frustrated at the moment (understandably), but what do people want them to say????

They are probably embarrassed that they have not backed the manager until now, when last seasons loans and key players left or were sold weeks ago.

This is why I think Selles might get more time.

I'm not saying wether this is right or wrong.

What i do know is, if i was brought in to manage something and had things taken away from me and not replaced, but I was expected to give a strong output, I would not be expecting to be sacked (yes, i know football is a different business), but i would be putting pressure on the owners (which Selles did a couple of weeks ago).

I'm not defending Selles at all, but i do wonder if he may keep his job a little longer than most people think (possibly October).

Does he deserve that, with some of his rinse and repeat tactics/selections, probably not IMO.

He's taken the fax machine for a service in preparation for the big day tomorrow

Would normally agree

But surely any manager reviews performances, learns from mistakes and evolves, making gradual improvements.

For some unexplainable reason…Selles appears clueless
And keeps making the same mistakes, choosing the same players in the same formation over and over.

Put it this way….I listened to the Talksport commentary yesterday against Boro and even they commented asking why is Peck playing as a defensive midfielder when that isn’t his strength.

They also asked how come Peck was so exposed with the other midfielders too far up the pitch. The commenters said we need another defensive midfielder on the pitch to help Peck. They also said Campbell looks poor but he’s not receiving any service. How come neutrals can quickly notice some of our issues when the manager can’t.

A few of us on the Kop at the start of the Bristol City match predicted we’d either just sneak into the play-offs or just miss out. We all expected the football to be better, more attacking but more open, so one week we win 3-0 playing brilliantly then the week after we get caught out and lose 3-0.

However so far….we’ve been very consistent. Our defence seems very open and exposed at times because Peck is struggling so much (not his fault as he’s never been great defensively) BUT the thing that really bugs me is that we don’t seem to have any plan or threat going forward. It’s as though the players have been overloaded with so many instructions, that they are confused and have stopped playing their own game.

Totally agree with what you are saying.

Like i said, i have my thoughts on Selles which have changed recently.

I was for giving him more time, but like many, i can't see any improvements.

My main message was more in response to the OPs question and what do they want them to say?

He was at the U21s at The Lane on Friday. He's naturally a bit reticent, but usually nice & friendly. He lives just down the hill from me. He often walks into work through Endcliffe Park.
There may be some stones waiting for him at Endcliffe park if it’s a shitshow tomorrow.

I’m not in the know but did have a contact who I saw once or twice a year, at upper manager/ director level.

I spoke face to face with someone I trust and he told me “Bettis is a good guy and very good at his job”. He then told me we’re lucky to have him.

That’s it….didn't ask him to expand on his comments or explain in more detail what he meant and it was a few years ago. So maybe things have changed but I still remember those insider comments/ complements about Bettis.

Also to be honest some of the more successful managers are extremely manipulative and are like snakes. So context is needed.

I'm sure he'll make an appearance once the transfer window is closed and we've won a few games with a new manager at the helm
