In all honesty I don't give a fuck. We have other problems far bigger than when will we be in the premier league with the filth.

Difference is their chairman finally got a good manager, ours couldn't find his arse on a dark night.

He's not been very good this season....

I think you're looking at 10+ years before it happens.

You never know, Southampton and Norwich fans would have laughed if you'd have told them they would have gone straight from league one to the premiership and stayed there.

Football's a weird one.

Southampton actually spent some money though and signed the likes of Rickie Lambert. Norwich had a prolific Grant Holt who is now playing in the Premiership. Can you really see any of our current side playing in the Premiership within the next few seasons?

Norwich & Southampton have momentum & a board that backed the managers.

We have a chairman that sells any talent we have.

Its pretty simple. Sell your best players & replace then with dross & you will struggle.

Adn i cant see there ever being a top flight steel city derby again.

Wendy will do incredibly well to get into the top flight unless Mandy plunges them back into vast amounts of debt. They're miles away as it stands.

I needn't say how far we are away...

Since when has Dave Jones been a decent manager? He achieved very little before taking the Pigs up. One poxy play offs win (beating us!?) is all he has ever done. He spent big at Cardiff and achieved fuck all. McKay on the other hand came in and took them straight up. Jones did well with Wednesday last year, but he did it with Megson's team. If he had not inherited the likes of Johnson and Antonio (Megson signing) then he would never have taken them up.

Wednesday are a long way away from being back in the Prem. They have a limited manager and limited funds to get them up. They are much more likely to be in a relegation battle again next year.

Sadly I think United missed a huge opportunity last year. I think under Wilson and keeping some of the talent we had (mainly Quinn and Lowton) we could have carried some momentum into the Championship. If Evans had have not been sent down and he had signed a new contract with us (big IF) then I could have seen us pushing for promotion to the Prem. Norwich and Southampton both did that. They played very good football in League One and then carried that on in the Championship. The notable difference with SUFC is their boards backed them and they had very good managers. Adkins did brilliantly with Saints and it was largely down to him that they went bump bump. Exactly the same story for Lambert at Norwich. I

You just never know what is going to happen. That said, I cannot see United back in the Prem for some time. I just cannot see McCabe pulling on eout of the bag and appointing a young and up and coming Adkins, Lambert, Rogers, Martinez or someone of the calibre to drag out sorry club up two divisions. Nor can I see any sort of investment that would be needed to build a sqaud good enough.

I voted for 10+ years, but I was torn between that and never.

i dont care about that, but if were talking us then with mccabe we wont reach the f.a. premierboat league again within the next 30 years. the guy keeps going on about it being his plan, well if it is then hes crazy.

can anybody tell me the last time a club reached the top flight by not signing any players and selling any half decent ones at the first offer over 50p?

I intend burying a time capsule in the garden with a dvd player of our prem matches so future generations will know it happened, , my great great grandchildren should know football was once played on a level playing field

It may be that when it happens it will be 2 teams of robots

Really? You think that he hasn't done a good job keeping them up from the god awful shower they were? If he does keep them up I think he has done a fantastic job, one that should we skank the play offs I would pray our manager whoever he would be could do with the support from his chairman. I know, stop laughing.

My my, that was a post of two halves :)

Firstly, I can't believe anyone doesn't think Dave Jones has been a decent manager. He took Stockport into the Championship (look at them now), then was hijacked when his Southampton career was done over by child abuse allegations. Took Wolves up got Cardiff to an FA Cup Final (anyone old enough to remember us at one of those?) then finally got the pigs up with an amazing run of wins.

To get a manager of that calibre in the third division of football is something we can only dream of I'm afraid.

Now the second half of your post is about bang on and backs up my theory that almost every manager is going to struggle with us. Thats down to McCabe not letting us sign the right players. Using just about every excuse in the book. Agents, Fair Play rules blah blah blah. Any excuse not to dib his hand in his pocket.
