I remember going to this game. We'd only just signed Kabba and Windass and they both scored early on!

is that a wind up Darren? I could have sworn it was 6-0 at half time and that we were useless in the second half.

No, someone else posted that it was 6-0 at HT and I corrected them as well. It was definitely 3-0 and we were 6-0 up with around 25 mins left. Its then that we went crap and Northampton got 2 back, before we made it 7-2 in the last min and Northampton then scoring with an injury time pen.

I must be getting old, my memory's all fuzzy. I do remember the heaven's opening and Porterfield putting his arm round the ref at half time - my Dad said it was to make sure he didn't call the game off as we were doing so well. That was why I thought we were 6-0 at half time.

We beat Oldham 7-2 in the cup back in the 90s - can't remember when, but I remember giving my Oldham supporting English teacher some stick for it!

As an aside, I was discussing the impending derby with my piggy mate in the pub on Saturday. Rather annoyingly he was giving it all the "You'll probably beat us but it doesn't matter mate. Unless you tonk us." - Well that's it then, isn't it? 4-1 or more is the only way we can claim bragging rights this season (apparently).

COYRAWW!!

that was 1990-1 in the Zenith Cup. A weird evening. We were 0-2 down after 5 minutes.

There were just under 3000 there. I stood on the kop and it was deserted. My Dad came to give me a lift home, came in for the last 10 mins and saw us score 3 times!

Funny that two of us should have exactly the same 'false' memory of this. Not that I'd ever doubt you you understand.

I could've sworn it was 6 nil at half time though.

I have a vivid memory of the game and can see (randomly) MacPhail scoring at the Bl end in the first half (there was some controversy as to whether it was over the line), sandwiched between 2 goals by Edwards. I can also see Hatton (twice) and Neville slipping in goals amongst the mud at the Kop end in the 2nd half.

11/12/90 - Bryson 2, Hoyland, Beesley, Deane and Duffield 2 scored.

going back to that 1984 Orient game, I looked up the programme, but, annoyingly, there are pics of all the goals except the 4th and 6th! No match reports in the programme in those days either.

The only way to settle this would be for someone to go down a library and check the Star or Telegraph report....

Can't have happened many times but how about in '03 when we managed 5 goals twice in a week, Rothrum 5-0 on the Tuesday night and then that incredible 5-3 game against Cardiff the following Saturday. Half-time at 0-0 in the Cardiff game I remember young 'un asking me if anyone was ever going to score !

Tonkings I was present at:

Stockport A, league Cup, 5-1 - whitehouse hat-trick, Flo 2
Stockport H, League, 5-1 - Fjortoft hat-trick, Deano + A.N other
WBA H, league, 6-0, can`t remember the scorers
Birmingham H, 4-0,scorers as above
Riotherham H, 5-0, Tonge, Peski 2, Ndlovu 2

Remember the 6-1 drubbing of Chester and the 5-1 tonkings of Huddersfield and Swansea in the old 3rd,under Bassett ?

The 6-1 was memorable for many reasons - mostly though,for Deano's hat-trick in the 1st half,and Tony Agana's hat-trick in the 2nd.

6th Hartleppol H (LC) 2-0 Agana, Duffield
10th Gillingham A 1-2 Bryson
17th Chester H 6-1 Deane 3, Agana 3

24th Brentford A 4-1 Todd. Agana 2, Roberts
