We'll have to watch out for Moncur next week, he scored a brace on his debute yesterday and he has something to prove to Barnsley.

We aren't playing Barnsley

Yep I know, but I think he'll still have something to prove to them after only signing for them a couple of months ago and being loaned out 'by request'.

whooooooosh!!

He doesn't appear to have been wooshed though.

He said Moncur wants to prove something to his patent club. LS26 said we weren't playing his patent club, Gray said he'll still want to prove something to them.

Where's the woosh in that?

Double Whoosh!!!

There is no whoosh in connection with GrayBlade, therefore you are the one being whoosed.

Whoosh.

WTF are you on about?

OK, you've worn me down.

Here's the explanation.
GB made a statement that "we'd have to watch out for Moncur because he would be trying to prove something to Barnsley"
LS2 then replied that "we aren't playing Barnsley"
GB then said "I know, but I think he'll still have something to prove to them after only signing for them a couple of months ago and being loaned out 'by request'"

There, get it now? :)

Well if you're gonna be whooshed, it might as well be by the most cryptic whoosh in the history of whooshing. :)

We won 7 in a row. Derby, Southampton, Everton, Man U, Aston Villa, Sunderland and Chelsea before drawing at Wimbledon

Right Silent - off the top of my head so may be wrong - let me know where I stray!

Derby - was this rearranged? Sure this is where Glyn Hodges scores a late winner (past Shilton) maybe in his debut? 1 nowt.

Saints - may have got my seasons mixed up but did we beat them quite comprehensively, 4 - 1 maybe? That game I'm sure Booker scored at least 1 with a far post header and we were worried it would be abandoned as it was so foggy. Is that right?

Everton I know this one as it was on my birthday and my present was the ticket! Cottee scored for them, Hodges equalised and then Brian Marwood nicked it in injury time!

Man U - this was midweek and we won 2 1 but that is all I remember. Villa Sunderland and Chelsea I cannot remember at all. I know we played Villa and Mitch Ward scored a free kick but think that was the season after.

Derby was re-arranged from Dec 8th (heavy snow overnight on Friday). Not Hodges debut (it was the week before in the 2-0 defeat at Man City). Yes he scored a late winner past Shilton then fell over the advertising hoardings when celebrating

Yes, Saints was a 4-1 win, Wilder was our captain for the match against his old club. Booker scored twice as we went to a 4-0 lead at half time. In the 2nd half Kevin Moore netted the consolation for the Saints. We were awarded a penalty but John Gannon blazed his effort over the bar

Yes you are correct about the Everton match

Yes 2-1 midweek win against Man U. Deane opened the scoring, Blackmore equalised with a penalty, Bradshaw headed in our winner after Booker backheaded a long throw by Jones

First half against Villa was dull apart from the female topless streaker running between Deano and McGrath before running up to Agana on the bench and kissing him. Agana pulled over his hood over his head to hide his blushes. Bryson pounced on an error by Villa's Gage to give us the lead. Derek Mountfield equalised before Deano headed in the winner. Ward's goal was the 2-0 win in Dec 1991 (he accidently punched Gage on the nose celebrating his goal)

Ian Bryson got our winner at Sunderland before Gannon and Ball got sent off. After the final whistle the ref spotted Hodges headbutting Gordon Armstrong (his younger brother Chris later played for us) which led him to a 6 game ban a month later

Bryson again scored the winner a week later after Chelsea's Beasant spilled a simple catch

2013 / 2014
10 straight wins
7 in league (no goals conceded)
3 in FA cup that took us to Wembley.

It wasn't all bad under Nigel Mk1
At that point nobody had an issue with Clough.

The best way to look at his reign is:
Nigel Mk1 Part 1 - The one who extolled the philosophy of working with a small group of 18 or 19 players and under which we achieved the above results.
Nigel Mk1 Part 2 - The one who went against his stated beliefs, assembled a squad of 40-50 professionals, fell out with players and took us to the play offs with no recognized centre back.

I had no issue with Part 1. How Part 1 evolved to Part 2 I'm still at a total loss, as I imagine many are.

It's OK quoting scores Silent. What we really want to know is, what size were the tits?

Probably because he wanted to keep Maguire Coady and Brayford and the board were having none of that - thus he blew the money on a load of fucking shit.

Yet again in Uniteds history if a side that finished the season started the next we'd have gained success. That team with those 3 and a goalscorer would have pissed the league.

Speculate to accumulate isn't in our boards brains though.

I still think we set the bar a little low the season Clough came in. After Weir's disastrous start the management were keen to avoid relegation. However, having recovered somewhat under Clough, in the January transfer window we were relatively modest in our recruitment and I think we missed a trick to be the surprise package.

In the end we finished 7th and we drew 13 matches, finishing 7 points off 6th. It was very clear that a striker was missing. For some games we had only Baxter as a false 9.

Had we added a striker at the beginning of Jan, a month we failed to register any wins, perhaps we could have improved upon the final finish. Muddling through without a recognized striker seemed an obvious deficiency that was not addressed.

Some may think that harsh, but it was an obvious omission. There seemed to me a lack of ambition to not attempt to address it; playing a short, not particularly quick midfielder as your furthest forward player was too much of a short term measure and had a proper career forward been brought in, 6th spot might have been a genuine chance.

go 7 unbeaten in the league?

Clough 1st season I guess
