.........we are still in the mix in early February and if we can keep on picking points up until the end of March, when there are a series of difficult games, then we have 6 games in April which are all winnable.
Away at Norwich and Villa and coming away with 2 draws and scoring 5 goals is highly commendable, ok conceding 5 goals and the 10 minute meltdown are concerning, but as we know there are few straightforward games in the Championship.
Those chasing us have got to win those games in hand to close the gap, and those above have got to keep picking points up to maintain/increase the gap. There are so many games where the top 10 are playing each other that it is virtually impossible to keep winning, and the odd surprise result against those in the bottom half of the table will further cause dropped points.
I still think 77 points will get us into the playoffs which means another 22 to go, this would mean both BC and DC (not sure if anyone else can get enough points to get there) needing to get 30 points from 17 games to get ahead of us. Looking at their games that would be a tremendous feat.
So gutted and going to bed disappointed, but it’s great being in the mix!
