What's the hold up?

Lol. Of the disappointed sides missing out on promotion who finished between 7th & 11th, you've got -

7. Scunny - too gutted to act yet
8. Coventry - released 9 players yesterday
9. Gillingham - released 4 today
10. Rochdale - released 8 today
11. Blades - erm, er, ... er...

Scunny just released 4

Be interesting to see how quickly we act in comparison with the other 17 clubs without any further interest in promotion.

I'd guess we'll be about 15th to make an announcement.
As I used to say in my banking days "it's more important to get the right decision that a quick decision"

In my experience the two rarely go hand in hand

Aye, dithering & procrastination has served us great over the years...

Bet them Cov fans are gutted, finding out yesterday they'll be losing 9 players. Poor bastards! :(

I think dithering and procrastination are the last two things we can be accused of.

It's been more an issue of sign in haste and repent at leisure as we sign far too many players without knowing exactly what we wanted them for.

That's the biggest change we're aiming to make this summer if I read the signals right and I for one am well in favour of a more considered approach, and it's not even my money that successive managers have wasted.

Do you think they only started to think about this after the Scunthorpe game?

It should take 10 minutes to tell them all; "Next!", "Sorry, your being released", "Next!", ""Sorry, your being released" and so on.

Other clubs have announced yesterday and today, clubs, that like us have known for a few weeks which division they will be in next season.

Don't understand what's the significance between now and Friday?

No,

Do you think they haven't made any announcements yet because they've only just started thinking about it?

I just can't see why anybody would be concerned about not having heard next seasons plans 2 days after the last one finished.

Nige: "Everyone gets a clean slate..."

Harry Maguire sold July 2014. An adequate replacement still awaited...

Squad reconstruction, 2016 January transfer window: non-existent.

Etc.

He should have had the short and succinct one to ones with them as they trudged off the pitch on Sunday "Fuck off, Fuck Off, Fuck Off, We'll be in Touch with your agent George, Jay, don't call us we'll call you, Fuck Off, Fuck Off" etc etc....

the last 2 years the released list has been released on may 16th and May the 15th. so 5 days to go yet either Friday or monday next

Oh, just you watch.

A series of Barry Oddnobs, signed on an undisclosed from any number of shitbox footballing outfits, expertly scouted via YouTube.

Or, 'rebranding'.

Please, fellow Unitedites. Don't fucking believe it, until you actually see it. It is McCabe we are dealing with here.

pommpey
It's not Barry Oddnobs anymore, it's not the nineties.

It's Kyle Journeyman-Plank and Jordan Instergram.

I reckon they will wait until after Saturday's U21's Final. If they win that, they will flog the lot of em ASAP...

If all the contracts run through to end of June, what are all those who will be out of by then do for their money for the next 7 weeks??

What a fair question that is. Work on the South Stand concourse? Writing letters of apology to 18000 people?

Personally I'd send them out doing community work in Parson Cross and Shirecliffe.

What difference does it make whether they are out of contract or not ?

The players that are soon to be out of contract are no further use to us, the season has finished.

Get rid of them and pay them the one or two months money they are due

It's not time to start getting impatient yet but what actually is or can be the hold up? Line them up. One by one, in they go. You're staying/going. Next. You're staying/going. Next. It should only take about 10 minutes at the most. We just seem to be waiting for waitings sake.

Well Coventry have released 9 preston 4 newprt 5 , but not many more have offered a list yet

so long as its in the next week , does it really matter
they get paid till the end of the month, get them in sweeping the stands

Exactly. A new manager would almost certainly mean a 7th season in League 1.

In which case its crucial that we release our dross quickly whether or not we're getting a new manager just to ensure we don't try to give the wasters "another chance" ...... again !!

I would suggest community service to partially atone for the shit we've been forced to witness this season !!

There's little decision making involved here ......... they've evidenced over the last few seasons that they're not capable of performing in this agricultural division so release them and hope some other L1 Clubs are stupid enough to give them a contract !

Can I please give you 6 likes for this one ? ....... I can just imagine that :D

Because the braying masses are running around with their pitchforks, as usual.

Did you not get the memo regarding the Risk Assessment? You do not under any circumstances run with a Pitchfork. Walking pace and appropriate PPE, adding a burning torch will be subject to censure from the Health & Safety Management.
