What's our collective view on the quietness out of BDTBL?

I just moved to the Dayton, Ohio area so a lot of my attention has been concentrated on that.

So, I haven't spent a lot of time keeping up with events but I do wonder, as its July 1 already, what the lack of activity, outgoings excepted of cource, is meaning.

We have just a few weeks leftr before the season starts and I have no idea what the team will look like on August 9 at Preston.

Thoughts?

It's not like you'll have owt' else to do on Thursday. ;)

I reckon things will be fine. Many doom merchants spouting that we're on a downward spiral, when in truth no one knows anything.
Seems like a huge clear out and the start of a new era.
Something needed to be done after last seasons calamity and Chris Wilder seems really upbeat and excited about what is to come.
The start of a new beginning.

I hope the move went well, I just checked and you’re a 16 hour drive from me now. Fancy meeting up for pint halfway?!

In terms of the silence from the club, it’s deafening.

I think August will be a month where we accept we’ll have an incomplete team/squad again and hope we can catch it up.
 
It won't be quiet in the background.
I expect the club have over 20 irons in the fire regards new signings and at least 6 deals already lined up just awaiting the green light.

I expect the takeover to go through in the next 2 weeks and then we'll be overloaded with new signings.
So I'm not too concerned yet, if nothing has happened by mid July, then I'll start to worry.
 
Hi Houston, good to hear from you. I used to go to Taxarkana, AR on the TX state line several times.

Lets keep an open plan. I just drove back from seeing my step-daughter in NY State and did 2 x 10 hour drives: thank goodness for the US highway system.

8 hour drive for a pint?

My workmate used to take the piss when I told him me the mrs liked to have a run out to Hope Valley for a drink!

(about 35 mins if you’re wondering how far that is)

Not forgetting of course we are already playing catch up before a ball has been kicked.
I am concerned a slow start may well stick this time around, lots of new players, new systems, new set pieces all to learn and get bedded in.
That in turn could lead to a new manager and then it’s a start again.

So for me, the next 2 weeks are huge.
Nothing moving in the takeover by then we are in huge trouble.

I’m joking, although 2 colleagues have driven to New York and San Francisco respectively, must be nuts!

Re-writing history for some people (not saying you) on Wilder’s first spell he fell out because of a spat about not being given money for some signings. Heckingbottom comes in and is depicted as a ‘yes’ man by fans but Heckingbottom starts to show disquiet about the board and they’re approach to signings and running the club etc and he’s sacked and replaced by Wilder coming back saying he’s learnt some lessons (one of which is don’t whinge about the lack of signings or quality of players) and he is now excited about transforming the club (with loans) saying we are a big pull for all lot of players. I think the truth is that the only thing that’s a big pull is our plonkers.

I think they're preparing to announce some good news. I heard Barry Bannon is in the pipeline.

If this takeover falls through, i think we’re in danger of relegation. If it does but not soon, hopefully scrape midtable.
 
I think there's two possible options, feel free to add others.

1. We're still a shambles, ridiculously poor at communication. Transfer news through an accountant on twitter, anyone?

2. There is nothing to report yet, and all silence is a sign of proper planning and scrutiny. We're planning to drop some good news, after a day of really rather negative news.

Takeover or no takeover, midtable was likely to be the best we'd manage this season.
 
Same old same old incoming transfers delayed due to possible takeover, While other clubs sign any player we are interested in signing.
Here we go again, have been here before, haven't we?
 

I expect quiet about the "takeover", assume it has to be that way and we didn't say anything officially about Dozy.

On transfers, I can't see any Championship clubs have made massive moves as yet, most have more outgoings than incomings and only Burnley have spent real money and they seem to be because of agreements from last year.

Yes we have a HUGE rebuild to get through, but we also have a very young talented core to build on.
