We blew it last January mainly thanks to a combination of the lack of backing in the JTW and not spending very wisely what was available. Get it right this time and we will piss promotion. I won't be very happy if the turgidity we experienced in the second half of last season is repeated again. Its avoidable and the comments such as yours are simply lining up the excuses in advance.

Our nosedive had already started by this time last season, so hopefully that is a sign that we are better equipped to deal with things this time.

Still need a good transfer window though, two more GOOD QUALITY players now that we've brought Dowell in and who knows

Dowell is a great start. We should raid the Prem benches next for a quality loanee striker. The key is quality as mentioned above by Fulwood and using the loan market makes it affordable. Better off getting "returns" from John Lewis than getting a bagful of crap from Poundland like we did last year.

Yes, it's mostly our own fans that don't realise how big a club we are, Wilder said it himself when he arrived.
In the championship there are only two clubs that I would say are traditionally bigger, Leeds and Villa

Everyone else and we are either bigger than them or at least on a par with them and that includes the fuckwits up the road

I think the core 11 have been brilliant recently. You can’t leave Stevens out for praise just as you can’t leave out Sharp, Fleck, Baldock, JOC, Basham etc

Cranie came in and did a cracking job the other day, Clarke came in v Derby and took the pressure off.

We need to make use of the squad more in jan and Feb but I get the feeling that Wilder wanted the first 11 to give him a big effort in the 3 xmas games knowing that the FA cup was a chance to rest a few.

If we blew it over the next 10 games after the platform we've given ourselves for promotion then we would be entitled to ask these questions and a few more besides.

Last January's transfer window will have taught Wilder that quality above all is needed.
Sharp, Duffy, Norwood, Fleck, Steven's will need a rest occasionally, and the quality we bring in will determine whether we last the pace or not
If the board don't back Wilder now they never will

Grateful to him for saving us when no-one else was in the frame.

I've posted plenty acknowleging his mistakes (especially Mogadon Man) but I genuinely believe we need to be careful what we wish for. I'd take a shiny mega rich new owner tomorrow, if I could see he was a Blade or had our genuine interests at heart. Others seem happy for any change, regardless of risk but that's a debate for another thread.

I've been wondering what we need to get Play Offs. 10 more wins gets us 77pts which more often than not gets you a top 6 finish. We have 10 home games remaining and 10 away. If we can win 7 or 8 of those home games, we're near enough in the play offs. We are down to play 6 of the current bottom half at home.

I'm basically trying to say that, barring a monumental fuck up, we should make the play offs.

Or add a few away wins to that & we could get top 2??!!

No chance of even making the Play Offs. Every team around us will spend money and we won't, we'll slip out of the play offs and finish about 9th/10th. My Wednesday mate said this to me this morning.
