Who would you say our stepping up character was during our promotion season? Unsworth?

We definitely lack some bite and some organisation as well as mobility. I’d love to have a Speed or McCall type to boss that midfield. I really hoped Hammond would be somewhere near that at this level but so far he looks a long way off.

Agree with all that. That list of names just shows how much we are lacking in terms of character and proper solid professional footballers.

As leaders I'd say Short, probably more off the field as Morgan and Bromby were our main pair and Unsworth as an on field leader/deputy. He was an example of a player dropping down and making a difference, until of course he became a liability and then relegated us!

Some honesty and transparency wouldn't go amiss. Adkins enjoys huge support on here. Most posters on here are of the opinion that we need to get rid of players and bring others in at the next transfer window. And yet Adkins
never openly states that is his intention.

I realise he needs to keep up morale but is he really deep down satisfied with the squad that he has?

Who's calling whose bluff here? If you want respect from your customers/ fans/ supporters or whatever you want to call us then please just say it as it is.

No. He's made that quite clear but in as positive a manner as he can. He's talked about staying in touch til January, moving things around etc.

yes we DO need a leader, and in my mind it is best at Centre half.

Morgan was ideal - hard, fit, decently quick (ok, not slow!), committed, dirty (when needed), tough and row Z if needed.

If we had a leader in the squad then he would be known by now - Doubt it#s Hammond either, so carry on looking Mr Adkins.

Some say Doyle, some say Murphy, others say a centre half. To my mind what we're missing most is a genuine leader on the pitch. We've had various captains but none of them gee the players up like Doyle used to - and what's more worrying is that I can't think of anybody in the current squad who could actually do the job. Am I missing anybody?

What we're missing most this season is ...... a defence that doesn't leak like a colander, a keeper who can keep clean sheets against ordinary opposition, a midfield and strikers who can score in a brothel !!
