What was your first Blades game

Bolton away aged 9 in 1977 won 2-1. Edwards got one and Woody notched the winner from the spot. As a Lancastrian from working class stock it was many years before I was able to get to the lane which was in 84/5 v Leeds I think.

Boxing Day 1957. My granddad took an excited 7 year old for what was to become a lifelong obsession. Apparently we won 4-2 against Blackburn Rovers but I can remember nothing of the game - just the excitement of the crowds. My memory has us in the old wooden john Street Stand looking across at the pavilion.

One of my all time favourite Blades watching experiences .

It was a cold but beautifully sunny day and , before kick off it was announced that our centre forward for the match would be one Derek Pace , a signing none of the crowd were aware of since it had only been made a couple of days before and there were no papers over the Christmas period .

Blackburn were a strong team at the time and were probably expected to win but the Blades put in a terrific performance , none more so than the Noble Doctor himself who scored our opening goal and was a constant thorn in the side of their defence all afternoon .

The effort , courage and determination he displayed that day ,coupled with no small amount of skill , made him an instant hero with Blades fans and he remained so until he kicked his last ball for us .

It doesn't get much better than watching the debut of a true Blades legend and a terrific all round performance on a glorious Winter's day , all at the same time .

Memory isn't that good so far back, but I do recall Badger, J Shaw, Allchurch Hodgkinson, Woodward, Reece and the manager was John Harris.
I remember standing on the Kop, when coppers went in to fetch someone out, and I wondered why they were wearing big gannex raincoats. Not raining but they were covered in spit on the way down with their collar.
A three sided ground, with the half time scores going up at the BL end, checking the pigs result first. 66/67 i think.

Allchurch left during 1964/65 season and Reece joined us in summer 1965 so they never played in the same team (maybe they did for Wales). Joe Shaw's last game was in February 1966

Thank you for the corrections. :) Confused as a newt. I'm thinking 64/65 might be too early.
I am assuming that my first match was at the age of 11, so Allchurch is just a possibility. I was born in March 1954.

Saw this old picture and remember going through the petrol station, no idea which way to go. Can still remeber the fear of being in a petrol station on my own on foot.
I'd sneaked down there with my mate and an older lad who took us both along [he went on to scout for Wednesday].

Blackburn Rovers 5-0 followed up with the Cardiff 5-1 and then Watford 3-0 and promotion.

What with scorelines like those and Currie and Woodward no wonder I was hooked.

We scored 7 and Edwards got a hat trick.

A prize of scotch mist to the first poster to guess the opponent and season.
Northampton Town? Div 4 promotion season....? The year escapes me but I was at this match with my best mate from school.... He now works at the lane....

1981/82 season. Without checking I'd guess it was November 81.

The first one I remember was winning 2-1 against Port Vale in 1998 I was 10 years old and it was 'that' Dean Saunders goal. Seen us lose to Tranmere around that time too, not sure which was my first game though. Still get the same feeling as I did then walking up to Bramall Lane 22 years later, even smells the same 😂

I'm hoping someone remembers the game, in my memory it's a 1-0 home defeat I think against Mansfield, and I seem to believe Kenworthy scored an own goal

But I can't find any record of it, so I think my mind is wrong

All I remember is it was in the old 4th, we lost 1-0 and it was definitely an own goal

And still I returned........

vs Spurs 93-94 season. remember missing 2 goals cos my old man was getting a pie when second half started.

I was 9 and it was against Liverpool at Bramall Lane 1990. First game after being promoted against the Champions...amazing experience despite the result.

Mine: United 3-2 Spurs.
Watched the last 10 minutes on the balcony of the old cricket pavilion. Last game before they started building the South Stand.
Cyril Knowles missed from a yard out in the last few seconds. Nice one Cyril

The Old Man's: United 3-0 Stoke. Happy Valentines Day.

I was in a pub in London, playing pool against a mate who was from Northampton, when the score came up on the telly. I cheered and he groaned. Was a midweek game and also without checking think it was around Easter time.

We were losing 1-0 until about 5 minutes to go. We was pants.
Trusson scored 2, floodlit robbery. Many had left early and even more pissed off when we caught them up and told them the score.

Mine was sometime in the sixties, I vaguely remember Jones and Birchenall. And Jones and Birch being sold.
Woody and Badge came in and were favourites of mine. Games against Fulham and Blackpool(?)

Youngest (mad Blade) was in 2005 he'd be about 6, against Ipswich. SS, won 2 - 0 Kabba with both the second was a proper goal. Left defenders for dead and smashed the ball in.
Memsahib had filled his coat pocket with spice, sweets if you aren't local. When Kabba scored I picked young un up and jumped about, like you do.
Spice flying out of his pockets.
His ma asked him if he'd enjoyed his-sen.
"Glad it was only 2-0. Wouldn't have had any *****n' spice left". he said. ( I've made that last sentence up)

Mine was in the 1980-81 season (obviously not a good season 😪) 4th October 1980 v Plymouth at the Lane and ended 0-0. Sat in the John Street East Stand near the Kop.

At least we won the 4th division title the following year
