What next?

Knowing that Blackie is here for a while and we are unlikely to see new players before January, the question is whether there are options with the squad we've got.

The first and most important issue to tackle is to get a stable defence. It seems that Killa's head is not in the game (he was right in the middle of our two gift goals today). Either Blackie gets him to focus or we build on Morgs and Davies. With Walker and Taylor it can at least be a steady if unexciting base. Midfield can be sorted when we play three across by playing Little in the Howard role in front of Quinn and Harper (or France). When Cresswell and Ward are back they should play the 'wings' and till then we just work Cotts (assuming his wife is OK) and Treacy.

They have shown they are good enough but we can't go forward if the back four are leaking goals. I'm afraid that Killa is no longer willing to sacrifice all to stop the opposition, he likes to play and would rather wait and see what happens whereas Davies has more of Morgs instincts. Sad to think one of our best players is simply playing to leave and Blackpool are not going toplay nice. So bring on the muscle and not the pretty one.

And all this is helpful in trying to think of how the team can go forward? Sorry I can't type folksey. If you don't have any interest in what I'm talking about why bother chipping in? Excellent post Come from Away, good to see someone not starting a post with Blackwell out, but raising the question of how we can improve with what we have.

I think we need to start up front and work the way back.

By that I mean that I'd like to see Hendo given a rest, we may have to shoe horn a winger into a striker's role perhaps Reid or Cotterill but build the front around Evans.

I'd go along with your suggestion for the rest of the team, but perhaps we need to bring Bennett in for Bunn. Blackies all about players earning the right to wear the shirt.

Killa needs to sort his head out.

The drawing board needs to come out again, we need to work on Set plays but importantly we need to get plan B. I think by not relying on Hendo then we may force ourselves to use the wingers properly.

Instead of shoehorning people in to positions where they are not accustomed to playing then why don't we get them in the side in their natural positions and getting them doing what they are best at doing.

I'd be happier with Cotterill and Treacy on the wings with balls played to their feet and getting them doing what they are best at, which is getting out wide, taking their man on and firing in pinpoint crosses.

I think Henderson is one of the best headers of the ball we have ever had at the club when a decent cross comes in and for one i think he would benefit from this.

Sorry Brownie. I meant to shoe horn players in whilst Ward was injured. I agree play players in their natural positions, but the way the bookings count is clocking up, Hendo will be suspended soon anyway

Instead of shoehorning people in to positions where they are not accustomed to playing then why don't we get them in the side in their natural positions and getting them doing what they are best at doing.

I'd like to see both of them fighting with Evans and Henderson for a starting slot rather than them being used out on the wings.

A mentality amongst the strikers where if they score the shirt is theirs would be a lot more benefical that banging them out wide which is not where either of them i would imagine would want to play

The biggest probelm seems to be in goal. Bunn seems to be mega prone to howlers at the min & we need someone steady in goal. IMO give bennett a run in the team as hes not a loan player & it frees up a space. My team slection relects what i believe is the strongest we can do with the loan system as well.

only thing id change about that is id have ward instead of cotts on the right unfotunatly as much as id love cotts to be the next kanchelskis it doesnt seem to be happening for him, shirks far to many challenges and doesnt seem to be strong enough. hope things will change for him but been waiting a year now, looked completly lost at wembley.

Just at the moment i'd agree with anything that gets the players back to playing football on the ground instead of the Hoofball (put that in cos it really pisses blackwell off & it made me feel better, if only for the shortest time!!) we're being force-fed week-in, week-out!. Anything to put a smile back on my face, all our fans faces & the players faces (they look so abject just lately, it's almost painful!!).

Blackpool is a new game, a chance to sort things out. Don't need to win 6-0 just need a steady game and not losing. A win would be great but first we have to stop the rot of giving up goals.
