I don't want to start some sort of McCabe bashing thread in posting this, we all have differing opinions on what he brought to the table after all don't we. Regardless of whatever has gone on over the years, I think we have to focus on the here and now.

But, I genuine wonder what McCabes thoughts are this evening?

Forgive me for being a bit sinister, but that £22m that we splashed today and Sander Berge.....based on previous exploits? I genuinely feel that had McCabe won the court case, I don't think we would have been given a total budget that even meets the amount spent today.....In fact I am pretty adamant of that fact!...... Instead, i would have been a "I've given Chris a generous budget to work with based on where we are currently at....we don't need to spend mass amounts, all we need to do is bring in some young, hungry players on loan from Premier League clubs....players who are on the fringe of playing in this league"..

I would like to think that McCabe is sitting back this evening and thinking "I would have been out of my depth".... It's nothing personal, but this is the calibre of player that we need in order to aid in securing top flight football and to take us forwards. I do not think he had the ambition or war chest to bankroll it.

On reflection I wonder if he has considered his potential exit points prior to his demise in the courts. In his shoes I would have been kicking myself for not selling up after out previous promotion to the PL.

You don’t want to... but yet started a potential McCabe bashing thread

We’ll never really know as McCabe was going to sell up to that American consortium. I’m not sure anyone knows what they would have spent.

The prince is smarter and more savvy than our Kev in things like this.
The prince can see what exposure the PL can bring, and is willing to invest accordingly. Don't forget that Saudi,is opening up to international investment abroad, and United are fresh meat to the market.

He probably thinks the Prince is gambling the future of the club and we could go bust if we go down.

To be honest, I’m just enjoying the ride at the moment. If we end up in the shit financially, c'est la vie!

I suspect that ”deal” with the Americans would quickly have been shelved. I don’t believe he would have willingly given up control of United to anyone.

He’s probably still gutted he couldn’t flog us to that American company for more money. That’s all he will be ever bothered about - the £.

Careful. The accountants on here will be all over you. Never took a penny out the club. £100m he spent you know.

Over 20 years....

I hope he's thinking along the lines of, "F**k you lot, who risked little more than your season ticket money when I put millions of my own money into the club I love, slagging me off"
Yes he bolloxed up a few times, he readily admits that, but for goodness sake, some of us are like spoilt kids, take, take, take, and when you don't get what you want, screaming how much you hate mummy and daddy.
I don't know every little detail of what went on, but from what I've read, this is a fellow Blade with a genuine heart for the club that we're talking about. It looks like he dropped a massive bollock and is now paying for it, this after YEARS of trying his best to get this club what it now has and now having to look on after missing out on it by a hair's breadth. I feel sorry for him.

One does wonder what the court case and losing a potential gold mine has done to his business reputation. Mud sticks, he will always be known as the guy who made a big ruthless business move and failed.
Feel sorry for McCabe must have looked good owning a football club on his CV compared to losing it all so publicly.

I think he is a very concerned man, I mean he's due something like £50 million in around 6 months and is thinking the Prince has splashed out around half of it, if it was me? I'd be on the blower making sure my money was safe, I mean he's skint isn't he? Well he might be now.

We have actually sellable assets in our players, so even if the worst happened we could still sell them on. Our recruitment policy covers all bases now rather than just papering over the cracks

Ok so weve moved on but McCabe kept us afloat.
This smacks of slagging your ex off on Facebook.
Just let it be and enjoy the moment.

McCabe's only'crime' was not being rich enough to sustain a PL club (and thinking that he didn't want any business partners to oversee his 'baby'). Just look around BDTBL to see a fantastic, well-maintained stadium. Compare and contrast with that shithouse at S6 to see what a truly crap chairman is.

Good luck, Kev. And thanks for keeping us afloat during some very dark times.

This thread just shows that some of our fans are just like the neighbours, doesn't matter what you spend just spend it.
McCabe wasn't tight he kept us spending within the club's and his means - that doesn't mean the Prince is any different but the extra spending is PL money, this shouldn't need explaining to people.

I dont want to knock mccabe ,,,, but while Im here....................................

we never were given 160m before , who knows what would have been spent

we cant compare this year with any other, before mccabes money was all we had

its a whole new ball game as the wisest 3 fingered man man in football used to say
we wont ever have the chance to see if we missed out on going up if HRH would have funded another tilt with just his money
