I've done mine in the warm up before - well not warmed up at all or had time to stretch.
Pre match - just on the field, a lad sent me a pass a bit wayward an shouted my name so instinctively I lifted a leg to trap the ball and bang, hammy gone, 6 weeks out :(
Scored 6 in a match the week before so I was gutted

It's a horrible injury. Nothing you can do for six weeks except try that ultrasound bollocks. Try to come back too early and it goes again.

Well yes if they're returning from injury they will have lower fitness levels. But players who have played about 30 consecutive games and are very fit can suddenly have their hamstring go.

Yes, however less likely

If you still play , would it be possible for you to turn up at the players entrance on Saturday with your boots ( black ones , we dont want a fancy dan , with coloured boots ) , say 2.30pm. Scoring 6 goals in one match seems just what we need,:D

PS . what nationality are you.

Ha! Ultrasound?
Not when I did mine
Ultravox was in the charts, that's as close as it got.
Bless
I remember a girl I went out with was after an ultra sound machine to top up her tan. She was blonde... an aeroplane one anyway.

Allus liked my boots as black as I could get em
Born and bred in Sheffield
Could strike the ball with left or right
Even took corners with my left foot (I'm right footed naturally) and could beat the first man
Used to get called Lorrimer as a nipper by some as I could get some power in it

Sadly while I enjoyed every minute of football I played I wasn't good enough to be a pro

When I coached I scored with a bicycle kick from a cross by one of the other coaches in a practice match with the lads. It was summer and the ground was like concrete. 18 years earlier I had a back injury displacing two disk in my spine when playing but when that ball came over I just couldn't resist the opportunity and instinctively scissored and met the ball perfectly on the laces. Never saw it going in - just knew. As I fell to ground I was fully aware what was coming - once I'd hit the deck I couldn't move - took me a good 5-10 mins to get up but I didn't care. The lads has seen me execute a perfect overhead - and the best bit? My own lad was one of them :)

What causes injuries are, Newtons law, and eyesight, plus bad preperation

You really didn't need to do all that research on my account ;)

The bottom line is Derby already had a decent team when Mclaren took over.
They were on a mini-slump of two league defeats, lost to their main local rival (Forest) and so they sacked him.
They might have gone on to achieve play-off form under Clough or they might not. We'll never know.
The fact that McClaren only changed 2 or 3 of the starting eleven for the Play-Off Final suggests the team he left behind wasn't too bad.

United were going absolutely nowhere under Weir. Bottom three with only one win all season.
That's why Clough had made 7 changes to our starting eleven by the time we played our last match.

Maybe both clubs just needed a new manager to get the best out of the players already there (Howard, Doyle, Coady, Murphy, Flynn, Baxter in our case)?
Here's a good read for you Sothall
