Just watched the highlights and they suggest it is 2 points dropped, rather than a point gained. Not that this is not a decent away point in the circumstances.
First half it was (obviously all Scunny) and only poor finishing (criminal defending by JFL when they hit the bar) and a decent save kept us from being a couple down. That said, Collins missed a sitter. He should have buried that header. Free header and they were queueing up behind him (think Porter would also have had free header if Collins had left it). Their goal was excellent. That really was like watching Brazil! A brilliant counter attack. Could not really see the sending off from the video (despite several replays). Seemed harsh, but the referee was well positioned and seemed certain in his judgement.
Second half completely different story. How on earth did we not go on to win it. Tonne and Cressy spurned good chances (the latter being a criminal offence). An excellent move, where we carved open the Scunthorpe defence, saw Mendez-Laing hit the post. Well taken, sharp equaliser from Ched. Cresswell deserves credit for sticking his head in (bravely). Will he claim another assist for that? Then Doyle hits the bar with a header and at the very end, how did that stay out? What a save from their keeper! The reboud looks like a penalty to me. Thier defender definately gives Ched a shove. They would argue that it was shoulder to shoulder, but my (partisan) take is that Evans would have buried it, had it not been for a shoulder in the back.
On another day (and against another team) we would have won easily. We have rod our luck a couple of times this season (Tranmere away, Yeovil away and Walsall at home) and got away with it, but on Saturday lady luck was not on our side.
