I strongly suspect that we would have started the season slowly, as a continuation of the second half of last season’s form, and Wilder would have been sacked by the end of September. We would then have appointed Selles and would have been in a worse position now.

I’ve got us 2nd with 48 points.

He only managed us for 5 league games, as others have pointed out. It’s not just those games either, Wilder had to get us back into decent form, so some of his early poor results would, IMO, have been better.

I think our recent 10 ish game run of 2ppg, which is what we also achieved last season, is about right form, so I think we’d have been on that form, and therefore on 50 pts after 25 games.

There is also the reality that our signings would have been different, but that’s perhaps too much to second guess a points total. Either way, I think we’d be in the running for the title all season

Ins and outs are the big issue that it's hard to assess. I think the league was ripe for the taking if we had a window similar to last summer's. The huge fitness issue we're still facing wouldn't have been a big factor. I'd also like to think we wouldn't be scrambling around for multiple players in this window. A window it is notoriously difficult to acquire quality, match fit players.

We would have ether kept Moore or got mcburnie back so would have had a target man. We would never have signed Barry or matos in my view but wilder may have struggled and he may have been sacked anyway.

We will run out of games this season to reach 6th. The Selles period killed us. It will have a huge knock-on effect on next season and beyond as we'll need to take a hacksaw to the wage bill.
