Unlike Sydie we REALLY need to talk about Michael Cooper

I was at the game, so couldn't see properly. Could anyone tell what he was getting treated for when he went down injured, prior to not moving at all a few mins later for their 2nd?
He’s clearly carrying an injury, with the obvious current thinking it’s better playing him at 75% than the alternative on the bench.
It’s costing us and has to be addressed in January.

He’s been very off it. I don’t agree with the calls the pop up on here about always needing a top class second keeper, but I’d like to see someone come in in January. Even if it’s just an experience pro who’ll not be shit I’ll be happy (I think Davies has lost it as a result of not playing for years).
Think that's a fair point re Davies.

He used to be a decent keeper and not that many years ago was a very decent back up at this level.

His lack of first team football over a sustained period has probably done him no favours in terms of match readiness and sharpness.

I'm assuming timewastingitis

I think the older pro idea on a free aren’t a bad shout, Cooper should be number 1 but it would be nice to have the safety net of knowing if he needs a game off, that we have say a Fraser Forster type who can step in, even if it is just until the end of the season. As this summer will be big on keepers to be fair, Davies contract is up, Cooper needs to set-up and Faxon decisions need to be made.

Regardless of Coopers injury/no injury we need a good 2nd keeper.

Their first goal puzzles me he could have jumped for it but didnt and you can see he changes his mind not to. Tanganga had 2 men to cover and went for the wrong man so he was in two minds also.

Does he not want to be at the lane anymore? He absolutely gifted them both goals. Pathetic keeping.
Collided with Tanga for first and ball swerved all over the place for the second. His weight was on his right leg and i presume his knee injury prevented him from re-adjusting. Give the kid a break.

I think as a fanbase we’d be more accepting if we knew he was carrying something. Right know we don’t so it’s causing unrest in my opinion.

Even if they just said he’s carrying a slight knock that’s healing on the go etc.

For the first, surely if he goes with both hands to catch the ball he avoids both players and the fall.

Both goals seemed to come from errors of judgement rather than being physically incapable.
The first goal was an error, yes.

But the second goal. That came not long after he’d been lying down on his back having the physio working on his knee. Potentially back also. The bend of the ball possibly caught him off guard, but he was clearly in the mode of thinking he didn’t fancy flinging himself about. It’s easy to see.

I don’t know how it’s not fairly obvious to people that he’s carrying an injury. He looked like our best keeper in decades last year. You can see how the injury is impacting him or you can read the rumours. Take your choice.

I thought it was Seriki but whoever it was they badly blocked him

We just aren't capable of giving our player the benefit of the doubt - unless the club tell us and all of football that he's crocked

I can believe that it is a back injury he's carrying

Because that may explain the decision to play him despite it and the reluctance to operate. Back injuries can be chronic, difficult to diagnose, extremely difficult not to aggravate and operative solutions more difficult than something like a knee issue

Worrying that we HAVE to, but totally understandable that we DO
At 3-0 up today the best way to come away with a win was to play with an injured Cooper over a fit Davies. Longer term we might need to rest Cooper though and face a full game with Davies.

There has been talk of his knee for some time. But his back could also be adding to it now, as that's why he came off against Cov.

Well if he doesn't he's going the wrong way about it, unless he fancies playing for MK Dons etc. for a fraction of his current salary.
He's clearly suffering with injury(s), the Cooper of last season would have kept both goals out today. Have you not noticed that he goes down requiring treatment in several games without suffering an injury?
He's clearly suffering with injury issues, you can see this from space.
If I was Wilder I would get Fraser Foster in on a short term contract, then sign a keeper in January. Coops needs to come out of the team and get what ever treatment he needs, we need to protect him.

We were in need of a regrouping team talk to get a grip of the midfield. Not sure what that injury is called.

Needs his op. Stats wise he’s the worst in the division at the moment, we need a better option then Adam Davies

A regular theme of Wilders over the years has been competition for positions and 2 options for each one, which has served us well. But the one position that has seemed to be exempt is goalie. We always seem to be in a position of shitting our pants if the goalie gets injured coz the backup isn't up to it. Whether it was Moore, Henderson, Wes or now Cooper, the backup for them has always been a big worry.

Surely it benefits everyone - Cooper included- if we have an experienced, but actually good quality head like Forster on the books to step in when needed, but also for Cooper and the younger academy goalies to work with and learn from on a daily basis?

Im sure Adam Davies is a nice bloke, but he’s the cheapest of cheap options. Utterly useless when we need him and what knowledge from his mediocre, lower league career is he passing on to Cooper or Faxon or other youngsters who should be aiming to play at a higher level than Davies has ever done consistently???

If Cooper is injured and playing with pain killers injection then get him out of the team...he's young and don't ruin him he's a good keeper

The lad might be carrying an injury and playing through pain barrier for you..this time last year you wanted 15 million for him..
