What Happens If....

Portsmouth go out of business? Would Wycombe remain in this division if they could hold onto 21st position?

I'm not wishing Portsmouth to go out of business, but the fact that it's possible could spur Wycombe on (straw grasping and all that).

I have looked on the Wycombe forum and it is something that one or two of their posters have touched on.

Hmm, ok so assuming pompey go bust.

Not the Championships problem, they'll have got rid fo 3 teams, and got 3 in return.

But League 1 will only get 2 teams down from the Champ. and will need to make up the numbers somewhere.

The only options are to relegate 1 less, or promote one more. They won`t promote 5 teams from L2.

I seem to remember we faintly clutched at the same straw when it was rumoured Cov would go into admin last season and save us from the drop, as it was in the end it would have been Scunny who stayed up as they finished 3rd bottom.

face facts, we need to better wendys result saturday, just that, they lose we draw = promotion, they draw we win = promotion. I refuse to go into any other permutations mainly because i still believe wendy will slip up, probably not lose but i think wycombe will snatch a draw.

I think you've missed my point. Of course we need to win. If Portsmouth (or even Coventry) were to liquidate I was not saying that we would get promoted. But, it could save Wycombe if they remain in 21st position, meaning they still have something to play for at Hillsborough.
