What Chances Now of Hull Game Being ON

my sister who does stewarding at the lane, has just phoned me to tell me that shes been told by her boss shes not needed tomorrow. so she believes the game is off

which when/if this is confirmed is a joke. thats 3 games that have to be rearranged. no home game for 5 weeks. all through no fault of our own. ill give these team 1 game because its late notice can be a thing. but after that multiple games should be a no no. find a team or forfeit the game

I think Players would have to be on isolation day 5 or more on Boxing Day and double vaxed to be eligible for tomorrow night.
If you're double jabbed you don't have to isolate even if you have been in contact with someone that has had a positive test but it is recommended that you take a lateral flow test before going out.

So if they have a number of positive lateral flow tests on the day of a game then that could cause a problem at very short notice.

HOWEVER,

If they had this problem on Sunday then all of those that tested positive would have to isolate for a minimum of 7 days meaning that they would all already be ruled out for tomorrow night.

On the above basis I can understand why their Blackburn game could have been called off at short notice but they should have a pretty good idea of exactly where they stand for tomorrow night unless they have loads of previously positive players potentially having new negative tests and finishing their 7 day isolation periods between now and tomorrow.

Unless I'm mistaken and the EFL have their own rules, close contacts of a positive case don't isolate if they are double vaccinated. Just daily tests to ensure they themselves are negative. They are available to play, from a covid perspective at least.

The number of unavailable players is the total of a) those testing positive + b) unvaccinated close contacts of someone testing positive.

It's now 10 days since Hull last played, 11 come tomorrow.

For players who have tested positive in that period, tomorrow must be day 7 of their isolation (ie their first positive test was no later than the 23rd) and they must be negative today and tomorrow in order to be available.

Although their Boxing Day game was called off late, not all of their absentees will have only just missed out. Some will have been positive days earlier. How many? From when? Who knows... But it's totally realistic players missing for Boxing Day had it been played would be available for tomorrow if it goes ahead.

That said, imposing a 12pm cutoff tomorrow seems appropriate.

If a player is positive in the morning of his day 7 and just happens to be negative in the evening, AND his participation is the difference between the game going ahead of not...that's just one of those things. I don't think that justifies affecting the travel / plans of 20k+ people.

If the stewards and shop staff know (not doubting either account BTW), why are they still not confirming anything? Whats the hold up? I know the EFL couldn’t give a shiny shit about supporters, but surely its in both clubs interests to let us know as early as possible.

This "40 players" shite needs dropping.

Hull have used 27 players in the Championship this season. As far as I can tell they have no other contracted professionals over 21 years old without minutes in the League this season. If they did, they would count. One of those 27 came off the bench in the last minute on opening day, then went out on loan.

That gives a total squad size, for covid purposes, of 26.

The requirement for a game to go ahead is 14 including 1 goalkeeper.

We can speculate for as long as we like about how many positive / isolating / unvaccinated players they have, but let's keep it simple with one example:

They have two goalkeepers in that pool of 26 players and if both are positive or isolating, the game is off.

Yes it's frustrating, we all wanted the game to be on. From here you've got two choices; understand the rules, shrug your shoulders and say oh well, at least no-one has set off for the match, or you can get angry because Adrian Durham told you to.

From our own perspective: I believe our pool is 28 including 3 keepers. Ramsdale has played for us in the League this season, but of course doesn't count. However Jake Eastwood and Regan Slater both count even though they haven't appeared in the League, as they're over 21. Lopata, Brunt, Jebbison and Lowe all don't count.

I'm not for a minute going to try to defend a team losing a 2 goal lead but I would say exactly what we envisaged is coming true.

1. Preston. Totally at our door that we didn't win the game. However, would they have raised a spirited fightback if they'd have been lacking the 7 first teamers they would have been without through injury had they not cried off?

2. Hull. Would have been without their manager and on a poor run. Now under new ownership and expecting to make signings.

3. Boro. Not the best up front when we were due to play them. Now signed two center forwards and a midfield player.

So it's the bullshit we expected really. Integrity goes out the window as each team we will play will be stronger than when we were first due to play them.

I'm pretty sure that doesn't represent integrity.

Champagne you are correct on all points. But. They have broken no rules and taken advantage of the current situation. That is what a good run business will do to succeed in the respective trade. We just haven't taken advantage.....yet

Exactly and the same has happened in the prem, they are now belatedly looking at changing the rules.

We don’t know that rules were not broken. Internal investigations are ongoing and may include our postponed matches.
