What a wake-up call

Bring in new players, particularly a centre half and possibly a left back now or watch the season dissolve in the next few weeks.
West Brom will get at least four against that defence on Saturday.
A dreadful performance rescued only by the goalkeeper and the best right back in the league who is so much better than the rest of the team it's frightening. That defence minus Walker and Kilgallon next season spells relegation.

Idiot!

give it a rest - clean sheet and 3 goals and you're still moaning, enjoy it! Fortune played exceptional for me, weak in the air though

Well said mate...

I thought we played well in stages. Went a bit stale in the 2nd half but a decent display. The thing with this league is that there isn't that much between teams just look at the pigs, another win vs Scunny and they're right back into the mix.

Reading to me are in a false position anyway. I'd take Ingmarsson, Gunarsson, Pearce, Mills, Armstrong, Long, Hunt and Federici into our squad. All very good players just stuggling to find the form

I'll take the 3-0 win but after that i'm saying nowt cause the rest is negative an i've just arragned mi chackra's.

Meanwhile, back in the real world, who was it who wrote this: "A dreadful performance rescued only by the goalkeeper and the best right back in the league..."
Anyone who thinks we played well last night or we haven't got major, major problems at the back is living in a dreamworld.
The fact that Blackwell criticised a 3-0 win should be enough to tell anyone how poor we were.
We were playing a team four points adrift of safety who created ten times the chances Boro had. There was only one change to our defence.
Fortune is only a short-term replacement for Seip (who I think has been excellent and more than a formidable replacement for Killa). Walker is the best right-back in this league and probably half of the Premier League. Morgan is a rock who every manager in this league would love to have. Really, that leaves Taylor. And to be fair to the lad, despite looking weak and in general pretty average, he's been part of the defence that is on an awesome run. I don't think "we've got major, major problems at the back". I guess I'm "in dreamworld".

Seip is out for at least six weeks and Fortune is not up to the job.
We were told our transfer policy depended on Killa yet we knew he was going and didn't have anyone lined up - unless signing Fortune until the end of the season is it.

I can just imagine some of you lot if you were Cardiff fans...

Well, 6-0 away to local (ish) rivals Bristol City. Got out of jail there. If they'd not blazed over the bar in the first minute we'd have lost. How Chopra gets a game is beyond me and McCormack god he must blow Dave Jones off every day. Who in the world is good enough to wear shirt number 44? We'll get relegated if we carry on keeping LUCKY clean sheets and scoring 6 LUCKY goals.

How do you know we didn't / don't have anyone lined up ? Are you also forgetting that Siep himself has been brought in.

I presume this means when we played Boro the other week.

I checked the stats, 9 shots for Boro 10 x 9 = 90

That seems a lot of chances, so i'll go with the on target shots 4, but even that 10 x 4 = 40 Thats a lot of shots and any defence giving that many away to Reading needs shooting... oh wait a minute Reading had a total of 14 shots on and off target.

If only football was as simple as chances gets you points.

But Fortune exceptional? No way. He scored, but twice gave the ball straight to their strikers in very dangerous positions from which they could've scored. Taylor was also poor and couldn't do a thing right in the 1st half.

2nd half they both improved but we really need to get a better CB as cover than Fortune, as he's a weak link.

Had to laugh at this. James Shields eat yer heart out.

I have to say that was as unconvincing a 3-0 as I've ever seen. Played OK for 10, scored, stopped playing.
It was a "lucky" clean sheet in that it came about because of good goalkeeping and poor finishing rather than solid defending. Great save from Mills header but he really shouldn't have been given an earthly from there. Who (well obviously no-one) was doing the marking?
The penalty save was excellent based on what the fella did at Anfield last week. Reina committed when he stuttered in his run up and he just side footed it in, Bunn stood his ground and he didn't know what to do with it.

How often do you win 3-0 and your Goalie is Man of the Match? Not often.

I can only presume you didn't go to both games.

I didn't go to Bolton or last night len, but I went against Boro, sorry about that. But i've read your every comment for an accurate report. From what I read in your reports, it looks like we're solid at the back and looking great going forward. Don't you just hate the negativity on here when all you're trying to do is push United forward

Keep up the positivity Len, don't let the doom and gloom merchants drag you down!

A 3-0 home win. Into the playoffs. Not too far off automatic. Not conceded a goal at home in 8 plus hours. We are doomed.

Not sure why people are taking such umbridge at Len's post. Everything doesn't need to be black or white.

It doesn't need to be 'we won 3-0 and there's nothing to whinge about because it was a wonderful performance'. Why can't it be 'we won 3-0, but there's clearly room for improvement'?

Yes, we kept another clean sheet and this seems to be at odds with criticisms of the defence. But there's no doubt that without three cracking saves, and some wasteful shooting on numerous additional chances, we could as easily of lost.

The fact that we won 3-0 AND there's scope to get better is heartening rather than worrying.

Indeed, and that's the stance that Blackie has taken.

It's the rest of Lenners' reasoning that has me asking questions.

That's true but as ever with our 'never-knowingly wrong' friend, people take offence (if that's the right phrase) because after a 3-0 home win, within the hour, the 1st thing on his mind is to come on here posting criticism and doom and gloom. There's never the balance but then again posting praise and picking out the good points is not his way.

...knowing that many will take the bait.

People who take offence are all pawns in his game of chess.

Fleety;
You've known Len long enough to know that he will be in the staff toilets at Maccy D's right now knocking one out with his hand and thinking about all the replies he got to this load of bollox.

I clearly pointed out the two players worthy of praise.
The obvious thing for me is even Blackwell couldn't come out with his 'you can't always play pretty and have to grind out results sometimes' cobblers after that one.
Morgan and Fortune is a car crash waiting to happen and the nervousness of Morgan was glaringly obvious.
If Reading could open us up so easily, West Brom will do twice over. And it won't be nil against their name.

Lot of thought and imagination went into that post then. A bloke makes a valid statement that our keeper had a great game whilst our defence looked decidedly shaky and this is the best you can come up with :fishbowl::rolleyes:

Think that intimates that you're the bigger wanker mate

Mart: I was merely pointing out Lens past modus operandi in making statements on forums just to see what reaction follows. You being an ex BUer know that as well.
And theres only two types of men and thats Wankers and Liars:thumbup:

I see the bipolar's kicked in again Len. A name like Big Mart and the occasional post slagging people off and being abusive. Jumps to your defence once too often are you 2 sleeping together OR are you each other?
Back to playing with your little pony Big Mart it’s so embarrassing. :o

Oh shut up Boo, you're another one who has nothing to say bar agreeing with the bigger boys. Not worth a jot you matey, you just serve to remind me why the modern breed of Blade is such a chump :bomb::blink::bomb:

Oh and just for you......

:gallop:

Gentlemen.

I'm sure I don't have to remind you what happens now.
