but thats what we have won , promotion , thats my point
play offs is finishing 3rd to 6th in a lower division

and name the last 5 winners of the jpt without using google
I know I cant , know chesterfield won it, did them a world of good

To be fair I couldnt name the last 3 winners of the FA Cup ,but i could tell you every winner in order from 1970 to 1990.

Chelsea, Arsenal, Leeds, Sland, Liverpool, Wham, Soton, MU, Ipswich, Arse, Wham, Spuds, Spuds, MU, Everton, MU, Liverpool, Cov, Wimb, Liverpool, MU.

all those who knock our lack of ability to sign players , there was a nugget of information that puts it in perspective
fact , during the january window , of the 72 league clubs only 4 players were bought for a fee, 3 by clubs with parachute money and 1 by gillingham , an undisclosed fee , thought to be around 50-75 k

so theres really not a lot of money changing hands outside the greedy halls of the prem

Your presentation of 'facts and statistics' backing up your arguments amaze me once again

So Matt Ritchie joined Bournemouth, McAllister went to Shrewsbury and Murphy joined us all on free transfers did they ?

And I thought of those 3 whilst scratching my bollocks not spouting them. ;)

BTL would you agree with the oft spoken footballing cliche winning becomes a habit?

But I bet the teams that won it know who they are!
Sometimes you talk b*****ks and sometimes you talk out of your arse!

I cannot believe that you are serious!

Still won fuck all for 60 years.

Winners Fairs Cup in 1969, 3 FA Cup wins in the 1950's, a few FA Cup/League cup final appearances since then.

For the amount of money expended they probably are the biggest under achieving club, but heck I'd rather their recent history than ours.

I think you need to read up on your history the Fairs Cup along with the Cup Winners Cup was only second to winning the European Cup.

I know. The mentality displayed would be welcome by the Ultras and extremists. "I won't count that one as it doesn't suit my agenda/have never heard of it/Sheff United never won it".

Wasn't the Fairs Cup a diluted version of the Europa League?

Nothing to brag about really and certainly not a major honour.

Laughable.

We'd be crowing about the Anglo Italian cup if we had it in our trophy cabinet. But we haven't because we're just too shit to win even the crap trophies

Jesus, some people really do believe Sky invented football don't they?

The Fairs Cup was contested between those teams that didn't quite make the European Cup (because in those days only the actual champions qualified for it). So those teams who now finish 2, 3 and 4 and make the holy grail of the Champions League would play in the Fairs Cup (later the UEFA Cup). It was arguably the second most important European competition as the Cup Winners Cup was the FA Cup winners of each country and usually of a lower standard.

To an extent I agree that our trophy winning potential is now a gnats knacker away from zero, but to suggest that this has always been the case and so justify our 88 years absence from the roll of honour is absolute nonesense.
We have under acheived for years, the fact we continue to do so (and indeed now excel at it!) is not something we should be especially proud of.

The Inter Cities Fair Cup was actually started as a way of promoting international trade fairs and the teams entered were city teams such as Birmingham, London and Milan and this grew into the Fairs Cup as Grecian states.

Still won fuck all for 60 years.

WHATS WORTH WINNING HAS CHANGED
win the FA cup financially all you get is £2 m prize money and another million in tv money
get promoted to the prem you get £50 million

Arsenal have fun poked at them for not winning anything in 6 years but they seem happy with the extra 60 million the cl tv money brings in
and most Spurs fans have said on radio theyd rather qualify for the cl than win the fa cup , yet they are the first to pour scorn over Arsenal for not winning a pot

Most english clubs have deliberately got ousted from the Europa cup to maintain prem status , going for the prize money , so that cups worth nowt

there are 60 clubs in the league thats won nowt for 60 years

Good on yer PN081.

However we'll maybe get you an abacus 'cos maths is clearly a weakness. You don't work in finance do you? (If you did then the banking crisis can be much more readily explained).

Ok so Newcastle won the UEFA Cup 40 odd years ago.

They're still massive underachievers. Even more so than us.

By the way the list above is the amount of time since English league clubs last won a major English honour.

I misread blade too long's post.
