What a joke of a club we are

We've strengthened the squad all round. Experienced midfielder a la Speed/ McCall/Cowans/Spackman etc, a wide player, a forward, experienced defender, got shut of a decent player fair enough but god did he cost us some of the draws this season. The amount of time he could have squared the ball is shocking !! plus we got some cash in bank, seems good business to me.

Strengthened in that we've sold our main (only?) goal threat and are now officially the slowest team ever in the history of football. But as you say, McCabe banked some more cash so it's not all bad news.

its amazing how you can see things if you try. from my seat all i can see is that weve sold our top scorer and signed some old duffer who isnt good enough for a canadian team (do they even play football in canada???) and one of our old cast offs on loan. even in my anti-mccabe fucked off state, i honestly never dreamed we could end up not signing one real player! ya know, a permanent signing. of a player that isnt on the brink of retirement.

so we had money to spend on players before blackman was sold, now we have over a million more. and weve spent??? yep jack fucking shit.

Spot on. That's exactly how i feel about it all. It's a joke. I remember Jon Forte coming through the ranks and although he showed some promise, quite clearly he wasn't good enough, and if wasn't good enough then, i can't imagine he'll be any better now. Every time i see him score a goal he's out on loan somewhere, so obviously his parent clubs haven't really been that impressed by him either. There's something about him that is just not good enough where ever he goes. I hope he fires United to glory, but i really don't think he will. As for Barry Robson, we may as well have gone scouting round the local leagues. He's had his day and i bet a pound to a penny he'll be crocked within the first few weeks, which will leave us in the same situation we were originally in before we signed the pair of them, up sh*t creek without a paddle. They were brought in to soften the blow as well! McCabe is a complete w*nker. Are we managing to keep your poorly performing business afloat during the current economic crisis Mr McCabe? Yes! Aww, i'm glad we're of help. In fact i'm suprised the club, stadium or anything else doesn't carry the name of his business yet.

Robson at his peak would never have been on the same pitch as Speed, McCall, Cowans or Spackman - they were quality players even in the twilight of their careers - Robson is just a journeyman looking for another pay day!

Last weekend, 'We have money to spend regardless of if Blackman goes'

Blackman goes for £1.2 million so we have more money to spend.

We sign a loanee and a short term signing and make an 'alleged' bid for a striker I've never heard of and we bid at 10.20 pm!!!!

Yet again we've sold our top scorer as we did with Beattie in transfer window and been fed a load of bollocks from the the club.

Don't see why the fans should give a fuck when clearly the club don't.

I wonder if things wouldn't seem as bad if the sequence of events was different? If we'd sold Blackman first (minus the speculation), then bought Murphy, got Forte in the day after Miller's diagnosis, then got the short termers in at the end....

Then it might have looked better. At least it'd give the impression of being quick to react to events.

Of course I'd also need to dispense with McCabe's "PR" in this scenario... And the appalling run of form doesn't help. But hey, I tried... :)

I'm struggling here. Start of the season it was all about youth and blooding youngsters. We signed a young striker in Blackman and complimented him with Cofie assuming him to be back up. Blackman has gone and scored 14 goals at almost a goal every 2 games, which I think is good enough to ensure a start most weeks. We sell him and replace him with an older player who isn't ours and get in a 34 year old bloke to compliment the other 34 year old at the back and 33 year old up front.

It's not really close to the mission statement we started the season with now is it?

And is exactly why we as a club lurch from pillar to post ad infinitum.

I can kind of see your point JD but as you also point out McCabe's PR skills are pretty rotten. It could all have been so different but feels likehe actually said those words to set us up for a kick in the bollocks. Like he has previously.

He really should just keep his gob shut or get someone else to do his PR for him

There is a decent post/article to be written about all of the changes of strategy in the last 5 years. I have neither the time or the inclination now.

It's like Apocalypse Now: it's not unsound methods, but no method at all...

I love the smell of the Car Park in the evening.....smells like........victory.

Great post. I think this is an indication that panic has set in. McCabe's cracked. Selling Blackman is as good as McCabe waving the white flag - it's goodbye to promotion, hello another season in League 1. Sadly, worse is yet to come. Harry will be gone in the summer to fund new players, and guess what? Incoming will be a load of agein' freebies. What a sack of sh*te. McCabe that is, not just the situation. He's the mastermind behind our downfall. Europe in 4 years my arse.

We're playing at a different level these days mate. Robson "should be" head and shoulders above most in this division.

Look how good Lee Hughes is and he is dog shit!

I know that I am a long way away, but if you look at the comments on this board before bids were made for him, the view on Blackman was split at best. He has scored 11? goals, how many from open play? Probably not the best piece of business, but lets keep it in perspective eh?

Most have said that we needed to shake things up, lets see what happens before we all run off and start topping ourselves. My view is that we look stronger after the JTW than before it.

What if you meet Bill fucking Dearden ,what will you say to him ?

Nothing. I have nothing to say to him. United legend, yes. Not my era though. In fact i've actually walked past him a few times in Sheff. He seems a nice guy. You obviously missed my point. He has nothing to do with this situation at all. You might be stuck in the past grandad, but i'm not. I should be saying to you f*cking Worksop. What a sh*thouse that place is! What's wrong with supporting your local team, Worksop Town? F*ck off to sandy lane you cretin.

Where do you get 'should be' from - he is 'ordinary' and has always been 'ordinary'

And also if Lee Hughes is Dog Shit (quote) it just goes to show how low we have sank and praise the lord Robson the Messiah is here to lead us to the Promised Land.

I for one am totally underwhelmed at the way we appear to be putting together an assault to win promotion - as usual McCabe spouts bollocks at the weekend and everyone believes him Priceless!

At the end of the season, when broken zimmer frame injuries have had their toll on the team, but we just manage to escape relegation on goal difference.
Mac can sack DW and blame him for the problems, and announce planning permission has been granted for a new housing development at Bramall Lane.
Same day SUFC go on sale at ebay 0.99p start no reserve.

You might not be far wrong. McCabe can't wait to get building on the land behind the kop, it's all he's interested in.

ooh another tough guy ,born and bred sheffield ,within sight of the floodlights we used to have , 43rd season ticket in a row so fair enough I am a cretin ,but not a grandad yet. Btw Bill Fuckin Dearden still works for Sheff Utd.

I think you will find that is Nottingham Forest.

Failed eye test?

That is going to take some beating

That's the half of it. Here's a mail from a Forest mate. He's spot on about the youtube clips. :)

We're in total meltdown at the moment.

Frustratingly the owners have enough money to get us challenging for promotion, but are too mental to use it wisely.

They sacked Lee Camp and replaced him with a Kuwaiti. The owner then spent the evening tweeting Youtube videos of the keeper making bog standard saves from Sunday league type players in an empty stadium in an attempt to prove he's the next Peter Shilton.
