What a fantastic Transfer Window

Everyone was happy with the business until we started to play.
I wasn’t, thought the transfer window was a fucking shambles, we let go the best player of our generation for fuck all because he wanted to leave overnight royally fucked our selves by not either keeping him or making them wait until we had an adequate replacement in place, we were so obviously short of about 4 players that still needed to come in and now our inability to recognise or lack of funds are coming home to roost, we will be playing more youth players within a month, it’s been an absolute disaster of a transfer window, not being prepared to start the season is woeful mismanagement from our board.
But we are where we are, fucked

100%, were at least 4/5 players short on what we needed.

Don't think it's fair to judge this transfer window until end of next season. Just like I don't think we should consider Heckys position until a good chunk through next season.

Our transfer business has been in the hope of staying up but planning for if we go down,

We were projected to go down and so Hecky is currently par for course (admittedly performances could be better overall tho)

If we're not challenging for top 6 next season in Championship or the new young signing aren't performing in that league... then it's time to ask questions.

Now is not the time imho.

Why do we count Archer? He's a villa player next season so basically he's a loan so we won't be 18m down on him next season.
I know what you mean but the records show he is a purchase, I’m not trying to rewrite the history books

Any team that goes down will probably lose players, most will have a relegation release clause

That not withstanding, even without the archer deal, we still spent double Luton

It’s not a contentious point, like whether Hamer is an upgrade on Berge, it’s just facts mate

Oh I know your 100% right I just mean PA will know he's not really folked out 18m on Archer so therefore we've barely spent a penny.

Any proof of this? Phipps worked under the Prince but it doesnt mean the Prince always agreed with what Jim Phipps had said.
Only the fact that Phipps was literally employed to be the Prince's mouthpiece. If he said something the Prince disapproved of he'd have been sacked the next week.

How can it be planning for next season in the Championship 3 of the transfers most likely won’t be here
Two of the other three are still an unknown

3? Bettis said apart from Archer leaving they would only likely need to sell 1 other play at worst case scenario.

Souza is reported at 9m euros, with an additional 3.5m in add-ons should things work out well (not looking good). So I don't think that should be counted as yet.
Additionally, if everyone else is to be believed Archer is nothing more than a loan with the money guaranteed to come back to us if/when we get relegated so it's not quite the big splurge that it appears at first glance. Ultimately we can all agree that its about 30m euros short of what you'd need to spend to look like you were serious about staying up (having sold your 2 best players).

I do wish we'd combined the Souza, Traore and Slimane money to buy 1 genuine quality player, but I can understand Hecky thinking a smidge of depth in the squad is desirable.

The fact Archer may go back to Villa is irrelevant. We've still spent £20m on a £20m player for this season, which Luton haven't done.

Many players get sold again the season after, you don't just discount them from the spending for the season before! It's no different to Ramsdale.

Stop clouding peoples whingin an a bitchin with facts Jono FFS, people have to have a scapegoat

Heres one for you - so far weve had Heckys clueless, the new arrivals are shit, the existing squad are Championship level, PA has fucked us over, EPL dont wat us here, VAR are against us etc

All of the above are possibly true to some extent, but one single point of failure that doesnt take a hit is Ndaiye

IMO hes totally disrupted the planning, had he said from the get go he was leaving, we would have been ahead with the summer recruiting business, but we believed him, Hecky planned a team around him, fuck sake we even did the video - then pfff, hes gone
Back to the drawing board, talisman, game changer gone, star player - overnight

For me he shafted us, not intentionally with malice, but his indecision has led to our poor planning, hes swapped a starring role in the best league in the world, for the bench in a league no one outside France cares about, yet he hasnt had the vitriol our players have like Souza, whos already been branded a waste of money despite only having a handful of games to adapt to a new league, Norwood gives his best, but admits half the supporters dont like him - unbelievable really

Fair point keep it in then. There's a lot more to staying up than outspending Luton though, since 3 teams go down and not 1. Also I note Luton didn't sell their best 2 players after getting promoted.

Final point regarding Luton.. they're just going on the adrenaline of "first time in the Premier League" aren't they? Sadly a lot of Blades players have already been there, seen it, done, it, found out they weren't good enough already. Time will tell if that adrenaline keeps them ahead of us or not.

I do get your point, but you are trying to rewrite the record books, Im not making shit up here!

Yes us and Villa did a creative deal that benefits everyone, but its been ratified by the EPL, FA, players union and is there for all to see

You cant just drop it out of the equation because 'I dont think that should be counted' 🤣

Well we've not spent it yet (the 3.5m add-ons), and likely never will, so why count it?

Oh FFS!!

Because thats how contracts & deals are recorded

I dont make up the rules, but people with qualifications, years of experience and far more knowledge than me, and you, decide how to account them.

Mate, you cant just change the way its done cos it doesnt fit your rhetoric

Maybe throw a cheeky application into Chancer and offer to do next years books for him, then when you exclude the £2.5m per month loss he makes, you can explain that 'no one comes to watch us cos were shit, so I dont think we should count that' 🤣

I agree with all that, and wouldn't have been surprised if Luton finished above us in the first place. I also always expected us to go straight back down. I think the problem for most people though, myself included, is the way that it's happening. Luton are competing and we're miles off, which is unacceptable.

They have 4 points- a massive 1 win over us-

Against Spurs we were 2 mins from victory

Against Spurs your dear Luton lost against them and Spurs had a man sent off very early.

We ain't great by any stretch but lets get it right we are competing as much as Luton.

I think the difference between us and luton is they are having a real go at teams, they have an identity, they're creating chances, their games are exciting.

We on the other hand are putting 11 men behind the ball and kicking it anywhere

This. We're literally nowhere near the level of Luton or any other club that has EVER competed in the PL

Hmm. We played an entertaining and closely fought draw with Everton a few games ago. The levels of the last 3 games have been abysmal, as was Palace. "Worst ever" is a bit of a reach

We definitely not at that stage yet.

BUT... it does have the potential to very quickly ending up like that

The writing is on the wall unless we figure something out

Can't argue that. The last 3 games were at least as bad, if not worse than anything from 20/21
