Stayed overnight at the Hilton Bramall Lane.30 yards to entrance to south stand.

Away at Plymouth in the third division, Tuesday night game lost in the 89th min 2-1 defeat. Mind you, we were crap then, on our way to the fourth division.

Away to Millwall a few seasons ago. I'd just gone to the match from Heathrow, but that was after my flight from Dalian, China - 5,400 miles approx. Oh, and we lost. 🙄

I'm now retired but when I was younger I worked all over the world as a roadie for lots of bands, some famous and some not so, I was working for a band from Bristol (not that one the other one) we were in New Zealand doing a few TV shows and a gig or 3, I managed to wangle a flight that got me back in time to watch the 4-3 forest game in 2003 and back to NZ in time for the next show! picking up some kit that was "urgently needed" for that show! all paid for by the record company! think that was the most knackering anyway! Now travel from Newcastle when I can.

You picked a cracker to come back for. My favourite game whilst in Lanzarote was watching Basham’s arriving with a table of Leeds fans next to us 😍
I was in Ypres Belgium that day. Nearly overturned a table jumping up in the bar I was in when that happened!

Portsmouth is obviously miles away. This got me thinking: What’s the furthest anyone has travelled to see United?

Also, distance is not always the same as time so:

What’s the most time anyone has spent travelling to see United?

(Roadworks, delayed flights, being kidnapped and held hostage for 5 years – make your own rules.)

I wonder if anyone made it to New Zealand, and back, from Sheffield, in 1965?

Going back to the opening post my furthest is 3,300 miles, Sharm El Sheik to Portsmouth via Gatwick in the late nineties, I'm pretty sure we lost 1 nil just to make it more worthwhile 😒

Frankfurt to London for THAT FA cup replay vs Arsenal at Highbury.

Couldn’t find my mate with the tickets as he (and maybe me) didn’t have a mobile phone.

Luckily bumped into him 5 mins before kick off and we went it, best memory was singing the Marcelo song for most of the 2nd half.

On the way home I had to ask him why he had come off the motorway, he was adamant he hadn’t until he saw the round approaching quickly😂

i would say the furthest for me. was our 1st game in the championship. on the friday night I was at the london Olympic stadium watching mo farah win gold at 2017 world champs.

then get up early Saturday morning, have breakfast & drive from St Albans to Bramall lane for 3pm

If anyone went to China in 2007 pre season. I’m guessing that may well be a contender.

Perth WA to Manchester flight, then stayed in Cheshire with the wife's family before driving over to watch the friendly against Chesterfield a couple of years ago so that would be over 10,000 miles one way.
In my student days (2002-2005) I travelled back from Ormskirk to Sheffield for every home game (making full use of the Student Season ticket for the 3 years I was there 😉

I've also got a Perth (WA) to Bramall Lane.
I was at Cricket in Perth on Sunday 1 February 2015. I had a 2205 flight from Perth on Monday 2 February. To land at Manchester, 1120 on Tuesday 3 February. I was at the Lane for the 1945 that night v Preston North End. That was a "no bed" trip, roughly 41 hour from checking out of my Perth hotel to kick off at the Lane.

Waiting patiently for someone to say Ulaanbaatar.

I have flown from Singapore to watch 2 unsuccessful play off finals in Cardiff and at Wembley.

My son is en route to the Middlesbrough game, starting in Sydney, Australia via Singapore, Paris, St Gervais, Paris and London. I am too lazy to calculate the miles but it will be a bunch. He is taking his girlfriend and her sister too so effectively 3 x the distance all up!

It will be his first live game at the lane since he was 3 months old……
