We've run out of Baki...

Don't hold yer breath waiting ;)

I've said before that he wasn't paid by the club but as that doesn't fit the agenda it still gets ignored.

All I ever knew of his input was as a sort of supporter liaison. He certainly sorted out a couple of things that arose on away travel and seemed to be generally popular. Also seemed a nice bloke, you know, for a swarthy foreigner. I had a conversation with him in the Copthorne pre Brayford signing and what he told me turned out to be spot on.

Didn't he post on here once?

I know who we are trying to get. I can't say anything as it's been given to me in good faith. It's not them but it is a huge club in Europe.
"Huge club in Europe"? must be the Grunters then  UTB

I have no idea what he did, or whether the guy was good for us or not. However he is on the Prince's side so I'm glad he has gone to something better. I hope the Prince does too, hopefully to a side in Saudi and build up a community around that. I would even be fairly interested in how the Saudi side faired due to the Prince's involvement despite the fact I did not want his involvement as a 50/50. I would just prefer to have less foreign involvement so we don't become a trinket like the other clubs with foreign owners. The worst being the pigs or should we now call them the Chansiri pigs since he has placed his name on the seats, the shirt and side advertising boards. That's worse than Chelsea who are Abramovich's trinket.
What I love about us (as well as the football) is that we (the fans, local businesses, the local community) are all stakeholders. There's no point trying to chase Man City, Man Utd and Chelsea by selling our souls because we can't become them. But we can progress with all the stakeholders and some (small involvement) foreign investment. The fact that we have a Chinese person investing directly in Sheffield would therefore mean that investor being part of the local economy and therefore a potential stakeholder, but not to own a large portion of the club. IMHO the club should represent the community it sits in.

Yes but when you wanted to put on the latest Tommy Steele banging tune, your dad would give you a clip round the ear and tell you he was listening to the 'light programme'.

Far too modern and cockney chipper for old Sean; crash bang wallop my arse (ooo, errr where's mi washboard?).

Oh, I won't. According to some, he was gonna 'bring loads of international business into the club' and 'had loads of connections' (without any discernible proof of either).

And apparently he came on here and called me/offered me out or summat. I can't remember.

No one has so far given us a list of achievements, so I take it he was just here to emolliate the supporters. A kind of 'free hugs' dude when we were shit.

No pommpey posted a load of old shite speculating he was paid loads and did fuck all. Baki then posted on twitter he wasn’t paid at all.

Biggest slap down on here ever. Belting thread, well worth seeking out for a chuckle. :D

Really? Think I asked what his remuneration was in that role versus his (as yet unseen) T&C and JD and what objectives he'd been set by the board or executive. Him announcing on twitter that he's paid fuck all isn't quite so conclusive and answered nothing of the original question.

Slap down. Yeah. Sure it was.

Directors remunerations (fees, pension contributions and any other benefits) HAVE to be disclosed in the financial accounts as per Company law.

Never has the phrase, "it's in the accounts" been more apt.

Still, don't let the facts get in the way of a good rant though.

Yep. I won't. Do you have any facts about his 'Objectives', T&C or JD whilst he was at the Lane though? Or was it just hugs and stuff for you as well? Was that lot 'in the accounts', too?

Meanwhile Star journalist Phil Space, sorry, James Shield, jumps on the Baki story, breathlessly announcing, err, nothing's changed at all.

He does point out he left last year though, correcting yesterday's exclusive that he had just made the switch.

So, how much of 'utilise global contacts, assist in identifying overseas football talent opportunities and to bring in international sponsorships for the attention of the Club's management' and 'identify to management international football talent opportunities and to bring in international sponsorships' did he actually do?

It was a question I kind of asked back then, but some people seem to want to smoke and mirrors the answer with 'well, he was a nice bloke to speak to and gave the supporters high fives, winks and clicks.'

What did he actually do?

Even if the answer is 'Fuck All', what does it matter if we weren't even paying him?

Well I would imagine we were paying (reimbursing via expense claim) his plane tickets, meals and hotel rooms, which would be standard practise.

And also, why trumpet such an appointment, if it's such a non-job? Paid or not?

Why not announce every person's name in the crowd before each game as 'Matchday Observer and Choral Ensemble Practicioner'? I mean, people are actually paying for that but hey, who's splitting hairs now?

Can't understand people getting emotive SB has left the club, last year or this. Especially as he appeared to do nowt.

Apart from upset you, you mean?

Of course I don't. In any 'normal' business that would necessarily be confidential and remain so.

I think you have unwittingly answered your own question.

Keep the thread going by all means though, as you seem to be having a jolly good time.
