We've played 1 match, there's 45 to go.

Yeah it wasn't a good performance last night, but we also had a bit of a makeshift defence and still have players to return.
Goals change games and who knows how it could have panned out if N'Diaye had scored in the first half. Equally Watford could have taken the lead earlier too.

We've lost MGW and it's a loss for sure. But we still have pretty much everyone else from last season and have brought in Khadra and now hopefully the McAtee to help the attack. Doyle is highly rated too.
We didn't have GibbsWhite for a month too last season (Post signing him) and did still pick up wins. Obviously he was a real talent though and near on not replaceable.

But lets not start the season by slagging our team off. I've seen so many posts stating Fleck and Norwood are finished, Osborn is no good, Berge looks un-interested etc.

Our record of opening day matches is largely dire. I don't think we've won one since 2017.
Last season that performance against Birmingham who ended up being very midtable was worse than last nights.
You could at least see some process like we had last season at times but what let us down was passing in their half and general attack play just not sharp enough.

Millwall will be tough, they always are, but if we can go into the match knowing we will need to score at least 2 as Cooper will score that's a good start.

We haven't lost MGW he was never ours.
Last year the manager was forced to play Ndiaye & MGW in the same team: it worked.
Anyone else liked to gave seen Khadra & Ndiaye get more time together??? Will we have to wait till backs are against the wall before 2 skilful players are allowed to be on the same pitch again.

It was heading to a 0-0 until a stupid free kick and Keystone Cops midfield/defending allowed an offside goal to be scored!
Watford were the better team, but made to look much better by our non-existent midfield.
Jebbison and Ndiaye having to create their own chances and being bullied by a tough Watford defence didn't look like we'd get anything last night.
Lowe should have been subbed he was so poor!

Hopefully a different game on Saturday and we can play much better.

Sharp 10
Khedra 10
Brewster 10
Ndayie 8
Jebbo 7
Berge 4
MCB 1

It's not looking so bad...

I'd say Brewster is more about 6 or 7 goals & Jebbison 5 and if we keep hold of Berge, I reckon he could push a couple more.

It’s enough for the experts on here l’ll have you know. Would be interesting. - well not really - to see how many of the weak bladdered wrote the season off after the first game last season.

I'm not writing us off that would be ridiculous, but that was dire yesterday and it's not an overreaction or bedwetting to point it out. Many changes required for Millwall
Agree

Added to a worrying pre season - there are players to come in and some will leave too and I guess it won’t start to settle down until September but people are right to raise concerns . Many were ridiculed and called bed wetters when they criticised pre season results and told that it only matters when the real stuff starts .

The real stuff started - we were woeful in many areas -

concerned but not suicidal of Dinno

One thing I couldn't understand yesterday was the decision to take Jebbo off when he did. Him and Ndiaye had some decent link up play in first half.

100% agree - just want to see something like a performance something that gives you some positives, other than Ndiaye the rest were beyond poor, i get we will not win every game, but come on there has to be some form a hardworking effort like performance, Watford were ok nothing more, we were awful. I thought footballers wanted to entertain ???? UTB

True but I couldn't see Jebbo scoring. He was getting shrugged off the ball too easily. I'd have tried to bring Sharp on sooner instead.

Wes was good
Egan was good
RND was good
Ndiaye was good
Khedra was good

The rest were average

Lowe was poor

We lost 1-0 at Watford - quite easily could have been 0-0. Really isn't as bad as you're making out.

We probably learnt more in one match than a preseason.

Or at least confirmed suspicions.

There's really no place in the squad for short, really weak, non-scoring midfielders.

Where we finish is going to be determined by how quick we realise this.

Pep also isn't going to lend us players in touching distance of his first team squad to get a sore arse the other side of the Pennines.

For me a midfield two of Norwood and McAtee where the latter might just extend the career of the former. First drop is Coulibaly then Arblaster until Doyle returns. Then you have 5 for 2 with Norwood under increased pressure from Doyle.

Move away from 2 10s and play a proper strike partnership. N'Diaye and Sharp with Brewster and Jebbo to rotate. Still with Osula as a 5th option.

You then have the nice rotational option of Khadra and Berge as your 10s.

With 12 midfield and forwards plus the 3 keepers and 10 defenders it leaves no room for Fleck and it leaves no room for Osborn either.

I'd rather cover for Bogle with another right back and move Ozzy on.

It's just a question then if you move Enda on if he isn't injured. As atrocious as Lowe was yesterday, he at least has a season of good performances behind him. Stevens hasn't performed since March 2020.

Lowe and Norrington-Davies can at least still improve. Bogle and Baldock and you're still ok though you need a short term fix.

Part of Hecky's remit and the reason he will buy himself time is tl being through the youth. He isn't going to do that if he lets senior players hang around for too long.

Yeah, but we're in drop zone. 😭

We had our moments and it wasn't one sided game, but the problem area is the same as it was year ago. That area should provide balls to our attack and was involved in the 0-1 winning goal.

If we look the positive side - We had drawish game against fresh PL relegate without our best lineup/players. That is still something to build on and we can have good season when we get our stuff right.

We aren’t going up. You said earlier. After one game. Now you’re giving the answer including four players you’ve probably not seen in a competitive game over 90 minutes.

We have loads of pace now up top but a totally inafective midfield both Fleck and Norwood are past there best before date Mr pointy Arms 2 bad passes for every so called ping, Little grinning Jimmys legs have gone and a liability in every tackle Berg 1 good game in 3 is not class looks lazy more suited to walking football
