For accuracy reasons, on what basis is he on the brink of being sacked? Because of fans kicking off a bit?

He sacking at Southampton was widely seen as a disgrace given that after two promotions in a short space of time, they were actually holding their own quite well in their first Premiership season at the time.
Reading I don't know enough about.

Which leads me to present day. What were you expecting him to achieve thus far with this team exactly? He came into a club with 40+ players on the books (most of them nowhere near good enough), a poisonous culture amongst the first teamers and whatever money we had being pissed away on wages. I don't know if any other manager in this clubs history has ever started their job with such an uphill struggle on their hands, which is why he has my backing.
