His time will come

Most managers make mass changes after an atrocious embarrassing display

But it’s a fair tactic.

Hecky is showing trust in his players giving them all an opportunity to react and make amends.

Ars I’ve mentioned before I’m more focussed on the performance instead of the result.

You can never legislate for a one-off result as a team can be unlucky however you can control performances and effort. Also performances are generally an indicator of future results.

1 positive is statistically it cant be any worse than sunday. we will get a reaction today but its another tough match, bit harsh on trusty as he got to wonder if not now, when. but hopefully the spurs team puts in a spurs performance

maybe we can be abit overreacting because i would say any bottom half team would struggle with the run of fixtures that we have had between 27th aug & 28th oct & it was always going to be tough. brentford would be under simliar pressure. if they play 5 champions league quality team & west ham who won a european trophy in 8 games.

Agree.
Really rate Bogle going forward, can be inconsistent but when he’s in the mood far better than Baldock going forward however Bogle can be weak when defending.

Basham isn’t up to standard anymore in the PL, so you just have to accept the weakness.

Surprised Trusty is never plays, wonder what he needs ro do do to be given a chance?
Trusty must not be either doing it in training , or showing frustration. I can't see any other explanation i.e. even Bash gets played out of position at times.

Not according to our manager who sees them train everyday and knows the players better than any of us

It doesn’t suggest that he’s impressed at all since he’s joined.

If you’re a defender and you can’t get in the team after an 8-0 defeat, when are you going to get a chance?

Surely after shipping 8, you’d expect Trusty to get a start?
Well you would think so .I think if we get a hammering Hecky will get a lot of flack . I have supported him up to now but after last weeks mauling you would think he might have found a place for Trusty unless he is not fully fit or some other reason which we don't know about . Our defending in the air last week was shocking .Egan and Anel are really under pressure today hope they don't let down the gaffer after the faith he has put in them .

I think we just have to trust Hecky regarding Trusty.
Could be a lack of fitness. From what we saw of Davies last week we know the reason why he's not getting a start.

When our best defender so far this season , who plays in his position, drops his standards . Until then it’s the bench , otherwise we improve things even worse by picking him in a position that isn’t his best and drop players who play those positions regularly

Hear this excuse quite alot.

Agree even average teams would struggle to pick up results in the matches we've had.
Ironically if you just judge us in results, then it doesn't look too bad, narrow defeats to most teams, then a disastrous record 8-0 defeat.

However instead of over reacting, forget the results and look at the performances.

If you look at the % possession, number of shots, number of shots on target and corner stats, then we are miles away from PL standard.
We struggle to make simple 5 yard passes to feet and hardly keep any possession, so for long spells the defence are under constant pressure
Basically the results look decent but we're struggling to compete.

Whenever a team loses 6-0 or 7-0 etc it's usually a case of every shot went in, so there's an element of luck.
However what hasn't been mentioned regards the Newcastle defeat was we were slightly lucky with their missed chances.
On another day they win 10-0 or 11-0 and there's no way even a league 2 team would lose by that scoreline.

Our starting tactic seems to be to pack defence and keep the score down.
Hopefully keep it 0-0 for the latter stages, then pinch a 1-0 win.
The irony is Hecky went more positive against Newcastle and it backfired terribly.
Even at half time when 3-0, think he thought we may as well go even more positive but in retrospect he should have gone more defensive.

Can understand the pragmatism but that's how a league 2 side playing a PL side in the cup would approach a game.
Opposition fans consistently say we're a kick and rush side trying to spoil a game and time waste.
Maybe their exaggerating a little but you can see where they're coming from.
I'm hoping we transition into something more attack minded and we at least spend more time the oppositions half.

I was going to make a thread on this but my view is that Championship and Premier League football are like 2 different t sports.
Slav style is focussed on Premier League style where possession is key, everyone must be conformable on the ball and be able to pass to feet.
Where as Hecky is more Championship style, possession not that important, so try longer, direct passing risking losing possession and turn matches into battles.

Believe it or not, West Ham have actually averaged less possession than us this season, so it may be a different game and nice to see us on the ball a bit.

Got to say that's a good goal, although again carved open all to easily, now where are our players heads

Needless goal that happened cos mcatee didnt go with his man which was coufal. We need to get basics like that right no matter what the level

Comic defending
