2 games ago i thought we could be pretty close to the play offs by January, which would entice the owners to throw a bit of money at it, i'm afraid they'll just say go with what we have if we're miles off in January. I'm not throwing the towel in, i very much doubt we'll get relegated, but IF we did get pulled into it with 5 games to go i don't trust this team to show any bottle or fight

United won't get relegated, but they'll not get automatic promotion either. In my opinion it's best to stay well clear of the playoffs this season, because a second consecutive defeat would create huge problems.

If a manager loses two playoffs on the trot then he's finished with the players. That's exactly what happened over the road. The anti-Wilder sector of the fanbase will pile in, then the board's in a very difficult position. If they sack him, I don't trust them to find a suitable replacement, but if he stays he's a dead man walking.

Best play out the season, regroup, then try for automatic next season.

They looked jaded tonight, possibly from the sickness bug and 3 games in 6 days.

That would explain alot.

2nd half reminded me of our performances against Stoke….in that WBA steam rolled us.
WBA seemed clearly more up for it, pressed us trying to force mistakes, fitter with higher energy.
We played OK but more casual with lower energy levels. As mentioned we seemed to miss the drive from Sidie.

i was watching jimmy carr so i missed the game. but ive seen a few mates message that our habit of only turning up for 45mins have come back. good 1st half & terrible in the 2nd half

Yep,seems to be the pattern at the moment

Fair play to WBA they earned their points. Out thought, out fought and out ran our Blades tonight.

I’m really concerned about our direction. Wilder is a very limited manager, he’ll get the team playing to their level but he’s showed time and time again when he comes up against a better team he’s out of ideas. Our recent burst of form looks to be linked to the quality of opposition rather than any radical tactical changes by us, as soon as we’ve played a half decent team we’re back where we started.

However, a loud section of our fanbase are willing to accept mediocrity with occasional flashes in return for someone that ‘gets the club’ and hands out his token pats on the head to away fans.

Until the board can prove themselves capable of making sensible, well thought out decisions there’s no point looking to make radical changes.

I wouldn’t expect big spending in January, Wilder has been mardy since his meeting with the board earlier this week which is usually a sign he hasn’t got what he wanted.

7 or 8 games ago with the trash selles left us with I would have been happy to be only 6 points adrift of safety at the start of January

now 1 defeat amid a squits bug epidemic we are no hopers

gee this clubs isnt blessed with optimism is it
its no wonder its 100 years since we won anything
our fans have absolute zero belief , never have
1 loss , away at a club who do well at home,, thats it relegation for us

United won't be relegated. If that were to happen, with the squad they have, then there'd have to be a steward's enquiry. But automatic promotion looks very unlikely now, based on where the club currently sits in the table.

The point I was making in my post is that what United need to avoid at all costs is two consecutive play-off defeats. The ramifications of that could well set the club back years, so it would be better to finish mid-table and then go for automatic promotion next season.

If a manager loses two playoffs, then the players lose all confidence in him to get them over the line. That's exactly what happened to Carlos, and Chansiri might as well have sacked him as he trudged off the field after the semi-final defeat. As it was, he didn't, and he limped on until the festive period, the season ruined.

I'm not confident that this board would find the right replacement for Wilder, so best not rock the boat. If Wilder does sign players in January, he needs to be looking at bedding them in for next season's assault on the top two places in the League.
