We're only 4 points clear

Strange isnt it
we kept getting told we would never catch Scunthorpe

but some think we can get caught dead easily I wonder why

Actually more people said we would, by my reckoning anyway, because quite a few suggested Scunny would at the least have a bad spell. But don't let the truth get in the way.

I work with a Stockport County fan who's married to a Bolton fan. He came to the the lane for the Bury game and enjoyed it. And he also went to the Bolton v Scunthorpe game recently. His assessment is that all 3 teams are good, play some good stuff and he could easily see any of the 3 going up.

He's clearly going in the twats thread shortly :-)

I meant of 3rd place and promotion.

Winning the league would be awesome, but I just want to go up.

Common sense well put. I'll take whatever it is to get us out of this league. I'd rather it be as Champions but who fucking cares so long as we are 22 points clear of third with 7 games to go.

The way I see it people can get as excited as they want. Football is taken far too seriously sometimes and is there to be enjoyed. Why should people hold back if they want to get excited and gush about winning or being top of the league? It's not going to make any difference to the end result.

Let folk enjoy it, doesn't happen that often!

Lots of twists, turns, penalties, red cards, injuries, bummings and dodgy refs to come yet. Sit back, enjoy the ride and chew your nails to the bone.

Without meaning to piss on your chips - we have had an easy run with our opponents in the last 10 games averaging 19th in the table. Bolton's run has also been relatively easy but Scunthorpe's dip in form has (as expected) coincided with a relatively brutal Christmas period.

"Pos" in the tables below is current league position.

Can you do it for the full season please mucker?

We are top of the League, which means that if we win every game from now till the end of the season we'll be Champs.

It's in our hands, Comrades!

Completely agree Patrick, and in the scheme of things you're absolutely right, football is just that, a game that we all invest a huge amount of emotion into, but it's still a game. Still nice to see the Blades do so well under a manager who's also a Blade. It's as if years of underachievement has caused some Blades to be retiring when it comes to showing how pleased they are. For once we're the team that most other supporters consider as promotion certs, why go into denial?

have a big like
its my point we are playing well
we look capable, and are dominating

I cant remember us looking this convincing when we went up with Bassett or Warnock

if you cant enjoy it now , might as well not bother

Great post!

People think that if you say something it's going to have a bearing on the outcome of the rest of the season as evidenced in this very thread, what a load of kybosh.

We have been the best team this season in our league so far, a lot of people have moaned about our predicament over recent seasons including myself so I for one am going to enjoy the moment whilst it lasts and shout from the rooftops. Some like to continue in the doom and gloom of life, well fuck that.

If in two months we end up in the middle of the playoffs (which I'm confident won't happen) then it will have fuck all to do with what people are saying or doing now. Stupid really!

Keith Edwards has been the same on Radio Sheffield.

He said that even when Bury went 1-0 up he didn't panic and always felt very confident we'd come back and win.

I also agree we were never this dominant under Warnock or Bassett.

Personally I've never felt as calm watching the Blades. Even with the late goals we've scored you always felt it was only a matter of time before we scored as teams drop deeper and invite wave after wave of attack upon them.

It will about be the last game of the season and be 12 points clear and we'll get a 50 point deduction for some kind of prince related incident! Les not forget who we really are haha

Nothing is sorted, or anywhere near sorted, yet.

However... if we continue the current run of form from Saturday's game onwards through the tough games in February then I would be pretty confident then that we were virtually home and hosed as We would have bested almost all our closest challengers.

However that would be a very big ask.

Lads I was with Saturday wouldn't sing top of the league till final whistle.... I told em to sing it every chance we get, I will, I'll live in the moment now as I know the moments can be just that.,if I don't sing it again this season, I can remember the fucking big grin on my chops when I did....

I felt this way years ago, when we looked a class above, funny isn't it...

I'm feeling optimistic about it all and do think we will finally do it this year.

If we're still top on 12th March after a run of Peterborough (A), Bristol Rovers (A), Scunthorpe (H), Bolton (H), Rochdale (A) and Millwall (H), that optimism will turn to confidence. That is a very tough run.

I'll happily sing about being top. Singing about going up on the other hand is a different story...

If I remember tomorrow at work yes; that info is in the comparison on shots etc which moDtheGod started. It'll not mean as much though: we played Gillingham when they were near the top and we were near the bottom but the tables have turned since then.

Yes but it will show results against form teams at the time. Nice one.

Ah, but the Wendy fan at work who spammed me relentlessly about how they'd beat Hull at Wembley because they BELIEVE [sic], and because they're not like us cautious Blades...

I like to think that did give a little karmic nudge to Mo Diame's thunderbolt. :)

Ed... Look, here's Mo, thanking karma.

Of our last 10 league games, only one opponent is currently higher than 14th in the table - and that's Charlton in 11th.

We've had a decent run of fixtures. We can crow if we dominate and win another 8 of the next 10 games.

UTB
