IF we sign anybody, would you trust DW to spend wisely, given the utter crap he's brought in?

Yes. Absolutely

When he's actually had a bit of license to spend on players (via wages or a fee) then his record is far from crap: Blackman, McDonald, Miller, Kitson and the jury is still out on Higgingbotham and Murphy.

You can then, of coarse, point to the Williams and Hills but whilst ever we are where we are then there will always be signings that must be viewed as a bit of a patch job rather than part of the longer term future of SUFC.

Yet when Warnock blew our budget in January 2007 on a shower of shite, he was roundly and rightly criticised. IF we sign anybody, would you trust DW to spend wisely, given the utter crap he's brought in?

But, if he/we sell Blackman for anywhere in the region of £1m then won't he have recouped everything he's laid out in transfer fees and more? What with our huge reduction in wages he must be quids in.
In our current financial position wouldn't this count in his favour should our greatest ever chairman decide we can afford a few bob spendos (i.e. get someone in now and hope we can flog for a profit in July).

We long since gave up "building" a team, we might as well try and accumulate cash instead.

That is unfortunately a sad reality of where football is nowadays.

This is exactly the short-terminism that has blighted us for decades.

The cup games over the weekend highlight how far we've fallen. MKD and Brentford are - to some eternal optimist - our rivals for promotion. Not a chance, either of automatic or play-offs.
Only our 'good' start will save us from a desperate relegation battle.
