The opening 45 minutes was, I think, maybe the most complete performance from any Sheffield United side this century.

Yes, we've put in some good displays during that time. Most notably, in the cup against various higher placed teams.

But as an all round display? Fight, possession, quality on the ball, movement of it, did the niggly stuff well, ratted them down when they had it and were relentless in our drive forwards. Derby are no mugs and we had them chasing shadows and cocking up left right and centre.

I did place a bet on us to be promoted this year. I did so tongue in cheek but you know what? 1 or 2 more player in key areas, a bit of luck on the injury front and find a way to bring points on our travels and we won't be as far behind the rest for it to be a laughable suggestion as it was a few weeks ago...

That was basically last season's team as well apart from Stevens and of course the keeper. It just shows what momentum and togetherness can achieve under a good manager.

By the way even though we won again I'm glad it's an international break. There must be a few tired legs out there and a few knocks to heal. It also gives us chance to bask in the glory for two weeks.

Let's hope Chris gets in exactly who he wants before the window closes a s we don't lose anybody we don't want to lose. I'm sure the board must realise now that under him we could be on the verge of something really special and back him accordingly.

It's a long, long time since I've seen a goal celebrated like our third was today

Pure joy for 100 minutes of football.

Momentum from last season, right through pre-season and Derby didn't know what had hit them first half. We were playing a game of far greater intensity than them and yet we were composed and patient in possession, taking a breather from time to time while we stroked it about. Derby let us do just that.

Difficult start but 9 points and should have been 10. Bring it on!!!
