Self entitlement syndrome

People saying we had tired legs yesterday after playing 3 games in a week, fair enough unlike some I'm no expert but I was wondering if any other Championship teams have just played 3 games as well and wondered if they were tired as well, if so we are still competing on a level playing field, aren't we?
Have the Plymouth team played 3 as well?
Or is it a good sounding excuse.
Some truth in what Wilder said we played 3 games in 6 days with a long trip in midweek + Plymouth had a day off last Saturday as their match was postponed so there was an advantage there.
We have finished some games strongly ! Sunderland a good example! Just it was clear we were struggling a bit yesterday as Wilder said tired minds which reflects on the physical aspects going forward.
We have to get used to teams upping it against us! being top! teams lift there game.

We were definitely spoilt with the tactics of Wilder and Knill mk1 but Wilder and Knill mk2 know it’s a results business and we’re currently the best in the league at getting results.

My viewpoint at the moment is that most weeks we have a bit of a patchwork team and when we have the opportunity to add some bodies in Jan we should be much easier on the eye. I’d take scabby 1 nil wins all season over expansive losing football though, we need the assurance of another year of PL money and subsequent parachute payments.
Very true. Our best hope of (a) staying in the top 2 and (b) having a chance of staying up, is good recruitment this January. If we're firmly in the automatic spots during January we need to hope for a few Premier League quality players (or players that can step up, whether young talent or from overseas).

So when we don't see progression/ consistent rolling out of a style, criticism/moaning is probably mostly driven by fear of next season. It is by me anyway.
Not by me. For a start, I'm not arrogant enough to think we're promoted already. I'm just enjoying winning games, being top (at the moment) and a few points more than that lot at S6.

Think it's all about context, which is almost impossible to convey on a forum.

Think it's fair to be honest and be critical. I've been to every home match and yesterday was our worse home performance of the season, that's just being honest. However I'm the type that if we play really well but lose....I'll give credit for a good but unlucky performance.

A few around me on the Kop were saying at half time, we reckon Wilder will lay in to em smashing a few tea cups
but surprising we didn't up the levels in the 2nd half and it was obviously a message from Wilder when he made mass substitutions on 52 minutes.

We came out of the match, obviously happy but inside we knew that was really poor, the midfielder of Davies/Peck didn't work and One looked lost up front. JRS look like Marcus Rashford on a bad day, totally disinterested. The saving grace (yet again) was our superb defence and goalie. Also thought the substitutions when Shackleton, McCallum and Moore came on, helped steady the ship.

I expected Wilder to quite critical in his post match interview however think he explained it really well.

He didn't just blamed the fixture congestion (every team can complain about that)
but he's noticed how our opponents (yet again) had an extra days rest before playing up, giving them an advantage.
We payed Millwall away on Wednesday night where as Plymouth played their match at home on a Tuesday.

He said some of our players were out on their feet and desperately needed a rest.
He also gave credit to Plymouth (which was nice), also he stated the reality that teams can't play well all the time but he was impressed that the players showed character to find a way to win and yet another clean sheet. So there were mitigating circumstances for being poor.
Good post and I 100% agree with you. My comment about self entitlement has been misinterpreted by many posters (not you) to imply ‘above criticism’. Of course that’s not what I meant - quite right to criticise the team for a worryingly below par performance. As you say, it’s all about context and I just think there was was enough context yesterday (and admission by CW of poor team selection) to not tear into the team in the way some of the more hysterical posters did during the match. Particularly after we won and went 3 points clear at the top!

An earlier poster in this thread mentioned that we had become the Man City of this league and I see what they mean in terms of being perceived as a relatively well resourced club compared with others in the Championship. I am still scarred by the arrogance and disdain the Man City fans (and many others) had for us last year and God forbid we start to emulate that attitude as a fan base. Plymouth’s place in the division is as earned and deserving as our place was in the EPL last year. They aren’t there simply for our entertainment and good on them for bloodying our nose a bit - it may do us some good as a team to have experienced that. Fine to comment and criticise some performances but let’s just keep some humility and, above all, enjoy one of the best teams and best seasons we have had in many years!
