I can remember when we all did something similar in the last home game before they redeveloped the Kop. We let the balloons go, the wind whipped over the wall at the back and into some poor old Doris & Dennis' back garden on Edmund Road.

I can see the Wembley arch from the few hills in the Thames valley. Stood by the copper horse at the end of the long walk in Windsor great park playing commentary from the winner while looking at the arch like a proper sad act earlier

Firstly, I agree with you, but I have a feeling the ’collective’ visuals are organised by either Wembley or the FA. In recent trips, every seat has had a scarf or a flag left by it, hence the recent display by Newcastle. Obviously the most wonderful United thing to do would be to ignore them, but that is a big ask. Unofficial balloons would be my choice, loads of them.
