itll be a 27000 game.ont telly aswell, stop worrying,we play to big crowds of late.

I got my season ticket reserved seat on the cop today and read somewhere that we've now sold 18,000 with Charlton now selling almost 5,000, so I think we will beat the Forest crowd.
Agree bob ive put this morning there will be 28 000 easy

Let the Stupigs , worry about how many they get , the Blades that go will make themselves known and heard , we did our bit by beating forest , they bottled it by failing to beat yet another tinpot club on yet another march to wembley and European dominance , the only thing I know is its a great boast to the finances of our club , and the great job mr Clough is doing to turn our club around this season , after the nightmare that was unfolding before us after weir made this club a fooking laughing stock , and yes I admit I defended the man (weir ) that is hoping he would turn it around , but thank god our chairman had the guts , and good luck to get rid of 1 and get what could be a gem in mr Clough .
10-15-20-25,000 thousand , doesn't matter just be proud of our club and what it's done for us this season ,blokes I work with cannot believe the crowds we get for a 3rd div team .
UTB .

Who cares how many are there? We are taking things one game at a time, playing the pigs would have meant they had to win which I didn't want plus I think it would have affected us today plus Tuesday, whereas playing charlton means Clough can prepare his troops one game at a time on route to 50 points. Sir Nigel can then experiment to see who is good enough for our promotion push next season.

However many we get, it will be infinitely more, percentage wise, than the unclean get for their QF...

What like the one watched by less than 24k in 1993? I was at that and it certainly wasn't a non-event.

Let pigs obsess over crowds, we'll just concentrate on the football, it'll be similar to the Forest crowd by the looks of it, which was an excellent atmosphere.

The really pleasing thing about the oinkers, is that they won't be there, so they can oink and squeal for all they are worth. Heee Heee

What I'm saying is that the majority of blades wanted the tie against the filth .

Can you publish the poll you did and the sample size which shows the majority of fans wanted to play them in the QF ? I assume you must have done this to make this statement ?

PS. I can't recall anyone calling them 'the filth' before. Where did this come from ?

I don't know one regular match goer who wanted to play the grunters.
Just realised I will miss a semi if we get there :( bummer.

Probably what it is I just love derby games.
I was starved of them from 1970-79 then we had Boxing Day then another long stretch without one.
The most memorable matches are the derby games the best one being at the sty the 3-1 win sitting in the cantilever with the lads about 100 strong gloating the pigs.
Can't understand anyone on here having a pop at me for wanting to play the arch enemy

The only time you can enjoy it is after you've won ,and even then the pigs will rattle on about bigger club and all that bollocks. The build up ,the tension ,the game and the disappointment are horrible to go through ,I would be happy to never play them again.

I know a lot of pig fans who don't like playing us either. Under Warnock we beat them home & away several times - and of course we have the better overall derby record - and so it's not just us who fear a derby defeat. As others have said, you can only enjoy a derby when the game is over and you've won or got a creditable draw.

Isn't that's what it's all about winning and losing

The build up, the match, the piss up after

Pure joy you can't but it.

Read the response again, it drives me to distraction hearing pig fans going on about attendances.

If they like big crowds (which they don't get) why not go to Old Trafford or Arsenal?

It bugs me even more though when I see Blades getting into the same argument. It's an argument used by them to cover for their inadequacies and failures as a club.

Also if you talk bollocks lot enough then you'll think what your Grandad says is the truth.

Don't lower yourself to their level.

No one has had a dig about you wishing we'd played them instead of Charlton.

Yep you're right it isn't about the size of the crowd it's about the occasion .
As for the pigs I hate them as much as anyone on here and beating them on the park is everything.
Anyway first things first let's hammer The Posh Tuesday.

Apart from the odd bloke on the radio, I know no one who wanted to play them.
This 'great for the city ' bollocks also pisses me off. Stuff Sheffield council, what have they ever done for Sheffield United. They always favor the pigs.

Perhaps Boo, you were a tad worried that we might not beat them !

Having been there when they beat us in the 6th Rd 0-2 in 1960, when they beat us in the Semi 1-2 in 1993, and when they beat us 0-4 on that fateful Boxing Day I wanted the opportunity to see us beat them when it mattered - A place at Wembley - we will never beat them when it matters when we don't play them !!

In fact we have never stuffed them to gain revenge - even when we were 3-0 at the lane we managed to let them get a sniff by pulling back to 3-2 - I for one would just like to see us hammer them into the ground in a league match or beat them when it really, really matters

Nothing to do with The Star, Radio Sheffield or the Council - that's bollocks - I couldn't give a toss who they favour - I just want to be there to see us smash the 'Massive' when it counts !!!

Be a Blade and proud of it - Personally, I thought we stood a better chance against Wendy than we do against Charlton !!

We can be a much bigger club under Clough than any other manager I have known including John Harris.
To do that we will need the finance which has been promised and then we will not need to worry about Wednesday or even think about them.
Events will take care of themselves.

I'm a regular of 20 years and I wanted the Wendy to come to Bramall Lane. It would have been the biggest derby since '93, and I was a bit too young for that. I don't feel bad at derby games at all. I feel every rush a little bit more, and every goal means more. Like a cup final every time we play them. It's what it's all about.

We have beaten them plenty of times when it counts. Every league game against them counts. Doing the double over them in the season we got promoted to the premiership mattered more than beating them in a cup quarter final would have done.

The night they choked at home to Charlton - when their deluded fans were already talking as if they'd beaten both Charlton and us - was brilliant......I certainly haven't seen the shoutbox on here as ecstatic about the result of a game not involving us.

!
Think the game when we won 3-1 after quinns opener , when Micheal Brown scored the screamer mattered quite a bit . Wednesday took that defeat and went on to win relegation

100% agree. A number of us have spoken about NC having the potential to be the best manager we've had since John Harris. Gentleman John gave us that incredible 1970's side. Fate (as usual) was on the Wendy's side during that period as they never really faced up to us in the league.

The Derby days are stomach churning but now I want to play them every season because of what Cloughie has brought to our club. They got away with it all those decades ago and now is the time to put things straight.

To have beaten them in the quarter final at BDTBL and secured a place at Wembley would have been the start of our new period of dominance.

Why are people talking as if they have had the upper hand for 50 years? We had the upper hand during the Warnock years.

I'd agree with a lot of that. Wendy were lucky that they never had to face Currie/Woodward etc in the early to mid 70's. Likewise we could say that at least we never had to play them during the 80's when they were top dog in the city and certainly had a better side than we did.
