Well played Billy Sharp

Great performance and goal contributions against a League One side. But we know he can’t do it at PL level, so let’s not revert to playing him please
you are right we should revert back playing our other strikers who can't do it at prem level but get chance after chance every week.Billy has played about ten mins and scored nearly more than the rest put together. (APART FROM McGoldrick)and had an assist to.

Whilst he took his goal well and set one up, he should have had at least 2 more and never worked the keeper on either.
Unlike our other strikers who should have half a doz every week and without his assists also.

Billy Sharp at this age is superb in a team that creates chances through midfield and out through the wings. Unfortunately we don’t do that in Premier League games.

Today was his bread and butter and it showed. If he starts in the next game against Man Utd I can absolutely guarantee there would be threads on here telling us that he’s past it. Is that his fault? No chance.

We’ve still got a great asset in Sharp. Tbh it’s an absolute piss take that after all the money we’ve spent that he’s still the best finisher at the club. As long as we use him in the right periods he’s still an asset to us even at premier league level.

Amazing performance today against league 1 level, relegation threatened, Plymouth.

Absolutely nailed on. The pass from Norwood was perfect for Billy - in to feet allowing him to turn is what he does. Normally balls are getting launched up to him (when he’s played with McBurnie) and he’s battling in the air or tussling with the defender to try and win the ball and invariably he ends up giving a foul away which we all get frustrated about. That’s not his fault or his game. Play him right i.e. ball in to feet or to run on to / quick balls whipped in to the box and Billy will score all day long. We just don’t play him in the best way to maximise his potential. I think Brewster will be exactly the same. Ball on the deck, quick incisive passes will give these boys every chance.

Said the same today.

McGoldrick with 5 league goals and 1 assist, Billy with a couple and looking like the only proper centre forward we have that can reliably kick it inside the posts.

Couple of big money signings and McGoldrick and Sharp is still appears to be the best we've got.

I'm sure we do have better on the books ability wise, but it's totally on the people we've brought in for not having it within themselves to perform in the current circumstances, and I think to some extent the coaching staff for not getting it out of them.

Exactly. It's not rocket science. Run the channels hard, pull defenders out of position, always be a couple of metres from your striking colleague so you're hunting as a pair, always be an option for the person with the ball, press like you mean it, have one thing in your mind in the box....

Your point about coaching staff is a great one. There's no reason Brewster, Burke, Mousset couldn't do the aforementioned.

Well done Billy god knows what we would do without you.It should not be like this that at nearly 35 years old and the cheapest striker we have that you are the only one we can rely on to put the ball away ,Yes McGoldrick has scored more but I think if you had the same game time it is obvious who would be the leading scorer. Not ideal I know but you are responsable for 4 of our points and also for a place in the 5th round of the cup which says alot about our other mega bucks strikers.May be one day you might be able to put your feet up and watch our other strikers doing what you do SCORE GOALS but can not see that happening yet mate.So thanks for hanging around mate. By the way I HAVE BEEN TOLD YOU DID NOT CONVERT TWO MORE CHANCES THAT CAME YOUR WAY not to worry pal those in the team week in and week out do that every week ,they are very good at it so i am told .

When we play lesser opposition like yesterday then Billy shows his worth every time, but when playing against Premier League teams he is just not quite there, & to make it worse when he does get a game he is paired with McBurnie, & as a pair they just don't work.

Relegation threatened? A currently mid table team predicted by most to push for promotion are relegation threatened? Or are you just wanting to push your agenda further?

Scored one created one after very limited minutes this season.Give him a break.

Might have been worth a punt to get Alfie May from Cheltenham. From what I saw he ran his goonads off, covered more ground yesterday than McBurnie has in last 4 months.

Its about team selection. Billy should be 1st name on the team sheet against the likes of Newcastle, Burnley, Brighton, WBA and Fulham - games where if we play well we will get chances. I know hes got 2 pens but given the pressure on both im not convinced any other striker would have scored both so emphatically. He should not be anywhere near the starting 11 against the Man U, Man City, Chelsea, Liverpool, Spurs and anyone team that isnt in the current bottom 6 aside from maybe a 10 min cameo at the end as he is still the best finisher at the club. Brewsters only tactic infront of goal is to hit the ball as hard as he can and hope no one gets in the way, he's so far out of his depth its sad to see in a way

When comms said 'a lot of players up on the keeper' before that corner came in, you just knew one of them was Billy and he knew what his job was.

Second half he's got 10-15 minutes to rile their Tuanzebe into a second yellow and if that doesn't work, on comes Burke to zip past him and crumple like a Grealish. I've clearly given up on any moral high ground.

It’s that “dark arts” of the game that we are generally a million miles behind but where our only shining light shines bright 😀👍.

Old man’d him. A thing of beauty is a joy forever 😂.

UTB

DronnieBlade he was OK today. His sub replacement did well though didn’t he?

Are you related btw? Pretty embarrassing your obsession with him.. we’ve just beaten ManU away and your first thought it to find out my comment😂

But as you say. UTB

First thought was to point out your ridiculous comment about our other win and give you the pelters so richly deserved 😀. Good to see you being consistent. OK ?😂😂😂😂😂

I do have a severe lack of tolerance for fuckwittery. It’s a failing in life I have 😉.

UTB.

Love how Sharp never gives the keeper an easy catch from corners.
Shhhhhhh though.

Has been, and still is a quality player is Billy. Hopefully will still be with us for a season or two yet. Hes in great shape for his age and has adapted his game accordingly. Very important player for us this and next season. Long live King Billy.
