Does anyone else find it strange that wednesday fans, in fairly large numbers, are publicly stating that they are scared of coming to Bramall Lane for a night match?

It's quite incredible reading their forum at the moment. I know there have been a couple of incidents at the night matches in recent times but have they got no pride? Maybe I'm wrong but if the roles were reversed, I can't imagine any Blades fan openly admitting they were apprehensive about visiting Hillsborough.

From what I've heard of recent games, BDTBL is about the safest place to watch the match. It's what happens away from the ground that need to be scared of ;)

A certain group have ruled Sheff centre for nearly thirty years now. Wednesday have no one to combat that. In a nutshell

Not that advocate violence, but i find it hilarious when you hear about mobs of a couple of hundred 'boys' meeting in the comfort of the Swimm Inn then waiting for a police escort to the lane (oh sorry i meant having to suffer the hassle of a police escort to the lane ;) )

Then all the soldiers march down together singing and generally acting hard. If the police turned a blind eye for a few minutes they would all shit their sens and walk in a calm orderly fashion lol. Its the ordinary supporters i feel for when they get caught up in trouble - the ones acting like billy big bollox i find quite funny.

I've got to say the fact that this game is on a Friday night does leave me slightly concerned about trouble after the match in the town centre and the media shining a light in our direction.
I know a lot of fans who have taken the day off to go into town in the afternoon drinking before the match and that could lead to trouble later on.

Don't think there will be any trouble in town after the game, Wednesday fans will either go home or Hillsborough Corner. It is much more likely that there will be trouble in 'local' boozers around the city.

Even last season when they beat us at our place there were very few pig fans in town - West Street was deserted apart from the odd few blades knocking about. Even had a pint in the Swimm Inn and didnt see any reason to feel threatened.

I was gutted after the game, but they werent going to put me off my Saturday night beer ...........(although it did really, i just put my 'who gives a fook' face ;) )

I agree. But i think a couple of hundred is being generous. More like 20 nowadays, the rest seem to enter the ground by the infamous 'tunnel'.

what's the tunnel? - have i missed summat (nosey fooker me)

oh and yes, couple of hundred is probs a bit over the top!

Not an actual tunnel, haha. Just there seems to be no other explanation of how they manage to get to Bramall Lane from West Street without being seen.

I've been saying this all week, I find it quite funny.

They're scared about trouble happening at a Sheffield derby, one of the fiercest rivalries in football. No matter how much trouble I thought might happen, it would never put me off going to a game.

If you don't look for it, you tend to avoid it. It's the people who act big that end up getting involved when they don't really want to. I've been going for 5 years home and away, and never been involved in any trouble.
