Wednesday fans show their class

I find any abuse of a fellow human being utterly disgusting but you appear to pick and choose which ones deserve it.

Walllace being abused for doing his job is ok? Does that mean it's ok to abuse other people have in other lines of work for simply doing their job or is it just footballers?
Nowhere did I say it was ok. You were the one suggesting that it was. You are the one calling people soft for objecting to the abuse. You seem to be trying to turn the entire thing around.

They are doing my sodding head in on facefook. No reasoning with the deluded fuckwits what so ever. I've decided to let them celebrate their 0-0 victory....sorry, draw, and comment no further!

My original point was it happens. We can't condone it for one person and not another.

Accepting it might not be the be the most mature way of dealing with it, but moral outrage when done dastardly fans sing about us is equally as immature.

Was sat on Westfield corner and didn't hear anything other than usual chants. OP is exaggerating. Thought both sets of fans were fairly subdued. Also didn't see any bother in town before or after the game. All in all eventless and boring evening

No it isn't. Not all abuse is the same. There's football banter and then there are things like morons saying they're glad Billy Sharp's kid died. We are allowed to make a distinction and draw a line. It is perfectly reasonable for someone to be disgusted by people targeting a young girl and singling her out for abuse whilst not getting equally disgusted because someone chanted "who's the bastard in the black?"

The chant about Wilders daughter at the end demonstrated the complete lack of class at S6.

Every club has its few idiots and stone island yoof. In the instance the whole away end was singing a song about our managers 15 year old daughter calling her a slag.

In our brave New PC world I find it amazing that the media has made little or no comment about what can only be described as obnoxious bullying.

I am sorry Wednesday fans, apart from being delusional you have disgraced your club and football tonight.
Fucking napalm is too good for the
It was in the first 10mins after we'd chanted 'he's one of our own' they changed it to 'his daughter's a slag'.
It was the first clear chant I heard from the other side of the stadium so it can't have been one or two.
Fucking degenerate scum.

Sat on the KOP and tbh, I never heard them.

I don't get offended but here's me getting offended. You soft get.

Liverpool fans sing about the Munich Air Disaster, Man Utd fans sing about Hillsborough, everyone sings about Leeds fans getting stabbed...

It's what happens. It's not my cup of tea - but it's an occupational hazard if you go to football. If you don't like it, no one makes you go. You could always go to the theatre instead if that's less offensive. Or right to the Daily Telegraph...
From the Kop, I couldn't hear their singing, but on your general point, I think you are wrong. Just because something happens doesn't mean we have to approve of it. Take the song about Munich - can you tell me that it is anything but the pits of human behaviour for football fans to celebrate an accident in which Duncan Edwards, the best young footballer of his generation, and a fine young man as well, lost his life at the age of 21? It doesn't work at the level of wit, humanity, decency... The very least we can do is speak out about it, and make it clear that such songs and chants are not in our name as football fans.

Excuse my ignorance on this subject, but what has she actually done or been accused of doing or allegedly done?
(I'm assuming there is some story behind the allegations that are the basis if this chant?)
Or is it just a made up song just to get at CW and us Blades?

Not condoning these scumbags by the way, far from it!

I have no idea, and it is natural to be curious. But it is probably best not discuss it, as it only spreads the story and could possibly cause further distress to a young person whose life is nothing to do with any of us.

Peter, get a grip! Age is immaterial. Would it be ok to sing it about your sister, wife or mother? No, thought not. Give your head a shek!
With respect Peter did write a post a good while ago in which he said Evans could shag his sister if he gave us 30 goals a season

That is hardly a relevant comparison, no matter how distasteful. That was his choice to make the comment and I am sure his sister would feel absolutely enthralled and in raptures of joy that her brother would offer her up as a reward. We have all (or probably most) of us made comparative comments throughout life but it doesn’t make them right or any less palatable.

As an update, and hopefully to help keep a couple of aspects in proper perspective, most of page 4 of the Star is given over to a strong condemnation of the singing by some Wednesday fans at the game. The main focus is given by Lee Bullen's partner, a lifelong Wednesdayite, who confronted those around her who were involved, and her comments, and the rest of the article, make it absolutely clear that the chants were vile, the responsibility of (some) Wednesday fans, are disapproved of by the club, the supporters club, and most football fans, including those in S6. There is a large picture of Wednesday fans, and no blame is attached to United whatsoever.
For the umpteenth time: a number of Wednesday fans are vile, but the majority are not; the Star may be incompetent, not worth reading, etc., but on the evidence of the last few years, at least, it is not biased against United. And now can we begin to look forward to Saturday...?

I can't stand the obsession with fans calling each other out for being 'classless' - get over yourselves, every team had knobheads, ourselves included. At what point are we any better than any other set of fans, Wednesday included? I'll answer that for you, we're not.
The phrase 'class' seems to be en vogue ATM, as if fans have never sung a nasty chant before nor ever used violence before nor ever thrown a bottle at an opposition player - wait which fans did that on Friday? I guess we should call all Blades 'classless' too on the basis of the one moron doing that.

Does anyone know if they've identified the twat who threw the bottle?

Just went on Owlstalk to see their view on the chants about Wilders daughter, in view of today's article from the South Yorkshire Times where Lee Bullens partner, and lifelong Wednesday fan, says the chants were a disgrace - fair play to her - and there's nothing at all about it!? The article is below.

This is also the lead story on the Star website as well. The singing must have been loud as the reporters normally have their heads stuck so far up their own arses that they cannot hear or see anything.

The article in the paper makes no claim that the reporters heard it. The issue appears to have been raised by Lee Bullen's partner, who was in the BL lower tier. She deserves credit for raising her head above the parapet.

I've never had the pleasure of meeting Nicola Spencer, but she seems to be a grown up adult with good values. I have been fortunate to have met her partner, Lee Bullen, and whatever anyone thinks of Wednesday, I found Bullen to be a congenial, decent guy, and unlike the stereotype associated with anything Wednesday, I came away with a favourable impression of him as a man. It's far too easy to lump negatives about, especially onto other people, so consider whether your view of someone, anyone, is based on fact or irrational prejudice.

Anyone mentioned a section of the Kop singing"die die Piggy"?

The area on the South where the (l think) plastic sprite bottle came from is mainly composed of 50+ blokes.

In furtherance of inter-generational conflict, it couldn't have been any of us over-70s; we couldn't throw a bottle that far...

I was on the BLUT, and couldn't really hear their fans singing anything. Our fans just drowned them out.

A wendy mate of mine reckoned that "loads" of Blades came at them as they were leaving the BLUT, but I called bollocks and he's not said anything since.

Getting out of BLUT was a right joke.

Please don't accuse me of exaggerating, just because you didn't hear it does not mean it didn't happen. I am just saying it as I heard when I was leaving it. They were singing it loudly and clearly as I reached the bottom of the steps.

I didn't post to be provocative, the language I used shows that. I didn't even call them pigs! I posted it because I have 2 daughters and found it completely distasteful.

Respect to Bullen's partner for speaking up. It would suggest it is not quite the non story that a couple on here are trying to make out.

I equally don't condone die piggies die or some of Tyler's vitriol. It is a game of football. I love banter between sets of fans but not when it degenerates into unqualified personal abuse or poison.

Your post generalises. Of the 2900, how many do you think were singing it? Enough to suggest all are 'classless' and immediately point score on a forum? For every alleged chant of poor taste from them tossers I'll provide examples of one's belted out by our own.

I think I made exactly the same point?!?

Before I came to Germany I rarely gave Mittwoch a thought. Living away from England I found myself becoming more and more proud of my families roots in Sheffield. Though born in Manchester, I have always felt a Sheffielder. That led me to being proud of all things Sheffield, weirdly that included 'them', when They were doing well in the 90's. My pride in being English has not followed the same path. When I joined this forum in 2011 and started reading about their arrogance etc, initially, I found myself starting to despise them. However, I soon realised most Wednesday fans are ok, just like most of ours. There are idiots on both sides. I find it very hard to hate and wish harm on anyone from Sheffield for the above reasons. In fact, the older I get, the harder I find it hard to despise anyone. I simply see it as a waste of time and things like that, if allowed to fester, make you ill.
There is a video on Twitter of them singing that song, it does only sound like a few in that instance. My view is the same as Hamburg's.
