Weather warning - Saturday

The Met Office have put out a yellow weather warning for persistent rain from Friday into Saturday. Everywhere is absolutely sodden so it won't take much to cause localised flooding in all the usual spots or disruption on the trains from Chesterfield again.

Anyone travelling into Sheffield might want to allow a bit of extra time.

And just for a change, it's raining again...

I’ve just looked on the Met office site and it shows the yellow “heavy rain“ warning is from 12 noon on Friday to 6am Saturday morning.
So as stated by Linz there could be some travel disruption.

However wanted to make it clear the it’s expected to be surprisingly good weather on the day of the match.
Sheffield is forecast to be warm, dry and sunny most of the day...quite windy though but no where near the levels of the Bournmouth match.

Warm for a February day......10 degrees feeling like 5 or 6 isn‘t what I’d class as mid Winter temperatures.
I’m quite nesh.....don't like it getting close to 0 degrees......so its looking like decent weather on a Saturday.

Aye... No suggestion anything will affect the game but I've just walked from Kelham Island to Heeley and a fair proportion of the drains are completely full to bursting. Just might need to take traffic into consideration.

There's been a digger next to the river at the old Heeley railway station so I'm assuming they're doing some work to try alleviate the problem there.

It's an ongoing one though. This is from 1958 but could quite easily have been the other week...

A couple of weeks ago, I was in our local community centre coffee shop and two sisters came in with their Mum, they were about 45ish and Mum about 75 and looked to be suffering from dementia.

They sat down, gentle and demure, looked at the menu and then to my surprise, one of the sisters said “this weather’s terrible, it’s wetter than an otter’s pocket”. It was right out of the blue. The other one said she hadn’t heard that expression before and the first one said she wasn’t sure where it came from, but got her phone out to google it.

There followed a slightly awkward silence and second sister finally said “well?” and the first one replied “vulgar” and they carried on looking at the menu.

It bounced down overnight but now it's merely raining and there are no flood alerts in place in Sheffield.
