We will win tonight

I have a feeling we're going to get one goal via a massive deflection. Whether OG is enough to win the day I don't know.

Best we can hope for tonight is a replay if i'm honest. Can't see us beating them.

**EDIT - Not sure if there are replays on 2nd thought. I know there isn't in the earlier rounds, but didn't know if they are effective in the later rounds??

I cant see them not scoring and they have a very strong defense. They are the strongest Premier League team we have come against in the past couple of years. Hopefully if the Kop gets going like against Charlton and Forest it could be another magical night at the Lane.

0-2 Southampton. Another dismal display in front of goal with odd tactics and players played out of position. We get away lightly with a 2-0 defeat.

Southampton have almost sold 4k so I'd be expecting 20k+

That's it then. Let's all stay at home and curl up in a ball, timidly waving our white flags now and then.

Pathetic.

Attendances don’t bother me, and I know it’s a reference point used a lot, but the Aston Villa FA Cup match (home, Liddell scored, we won) showed what an atmosphere an under par attendance can stirr up.

Pelle is out, Davis is out, Schneidelin struggling - I'm not at all expectant, but, and its a big but, this is Bramall Lane under the lights, underdog v one of the top dogs, we couldn't could we?!

In a departure from standard protocol i.e. sticking up for your kids, i'm going to agree with you Pinchy on this one.

I think if we go down, it will be fighting and a return to the stirring cup displays of last season - we may even nick it.

There is a twist though :-) it's only because our set of shallow bastards will want to put themselves in the shop window. They'll be unusually "up" for this one - and be prepared for normal service on Saturday against Walsall.

:D

I think people are getting rather carried away about Southampton. "Top dogs" flatters them more than a little, don't you think?

Whilst I agree we have played poorly too often for comfort, I don't think there has been any lack of commitment. Surely the amount of late goals scored speaks volumes for that? Some of our players are not good enough, but we have few, if any, "shallow bastards". Actually, one who can be identified as lacking commitment is a fans' favourite who, in the great S2 tradition, is just getting better and better the less he plays for us. That, of course, is contrary to the party line so it's probably Nigel's fault.

I think currently, and more so at the time of the draw, they were one of the current top dogs. Only time will tell whether they will remain in the top 6 or so.

Indeed. I'm entirely confident they won't, but I have to be wrong some time, I suppose. :)

All the more reason they would put more into this game then, this being their best chance of Europe come the end of the season.
