Got tbh, I'm finding a few Blades's reaction to last night a bit sad.

Yeah we all get the rivalry/banter but under the circumstances I don't get how affected some seem to have been.

I appreciate I'm not quite as obsessed with all things Pigs like many are and due to personal circumstances, I can actually feel pleased for one or two if they win at Wembley due to current situation.

I can laugh if they lose but life's far too short to let a little bit of pig joy affect my day.
I too have family and friends who through unfortunate circumstances are also pigs. It is pleasing to see the joy and relief they got from last night's performance.
Totally agree with your sentiments. Congratulating their successes and mocking their failures is the for me the pleasures of healthy banter.
I would love to see both Sheffield clubs in the Premier League... the Blades challenging for Europe and of course the pigs fighting to stave off relegation.

I'm not particularly bothered they got through, because I think Barnsley will beat them in the final anyway, and how much funnier would that be? Their version of 2012

I also can't shake the overriding feeling of it being the right result. They finished on 96 pts, FFS... 19 ahead of Pboro, and the first leg result was an aberration. It would have made a mockery of the league if Pboro got through, much like the situation with Notts County nearly missing out. I don't like it when this happens

I generally think it's quite pathetic to be so heavily governed by what Wednesday do

I want the league gap between us but I also wouldn't want the rivalry to become inactive, which it would be in danger of if we went years without meeting on the pitch

At the end of the day we're in the PL and have no excuse for letting them anywhere near us anytime soon

I especially don't get it after the season we've just had. Let them enjoy it and if they fail in the final then take the piss. It was a great comeback last night and I won't take anything away from them but they still have no ammunition over us so it's odd a few seem so upset.

It was annoying. Its always annoying when they scrape a lucky result but we are on a completely different level.

We are dining at the top table next season, they are fighting to get out of the 3rd tier to spend another few seasons bumming around the bottom end of the Championship, with the odd relegation thrown in. This is their level now, same as Barnsley and Rotherham.

Anything they do is completely eclipsed by our achievements this season. When they one the League One Play Off final in 05 I remember nothing but a collective shrug of the shoulders from our fans.

Last night wasn't a lucky result. Boro to me looked like they thought as long as they get in the way enough they're home and dry. Wednesday weren't of much quality but they were bloody relentless and that's all that was needed. Let's be honest, pretty much every club in England were mugging them off about the 4-0 loss away, as far as I'm concerned they're going to be giving it back just as much.

Now if that somehow is getting to some United fans I'd take a look in the mirror. We're literally resting from an outstanding season when all said and done with prem promotion. Wednesday are still the second Sheffield team to visit Wembley this season.

How is last night's match bothering literally anyone other than Wednesday fans. Good match, they deserved the result, they get to gloat but they still aren't us :)

How are people going to cope if Wednesday get good one day? They're still trying to get into a division we have just been promoted out of and still some people are down in the dumps!

Nothing they may achieve this season will top what we've done.

I'm guessing most people getting upset about this weren't watching football in 1993. They certainly wouldn't have coped with that!

Whatever wendy do it,s still mind the gap. we are the premier club in Sheffield and have been since Wilder was our manager.

Hope we can get this takeover sorted ASAP.And get that mega rich owner that we all dream off,to take the wind out of those blue & white bastards sails, they have now found their way out from under the rubble,I know we have maintained the Gap and of course hopefully they get fucked up at Wembley, better still if it's Barnsley who shaft them, but the sound of MIND THE GAP GAP does sound brilliant
Fuck Wendy, they're irrelevant

I hate the fuck faced fuckers and want them in National League North or lower
They did well last night to come from behind and credit to them for that but they were aided by a Peterborough side that got their tactics all wrong and in the end only beat them on penalties. I didnt watch the game by the way

We will be in the most watched league in the world next season so fuck em

To many of us our ambitions are limited.

We don't crave winning the Premier league or the FA Cup. What matters is that we are the top dog in our city. The wider the gap the better.

Last night wasn't good. Some of us may even forfeit the chance of playing in Europe as long as we maintain a healthy distance between us and them.

I'm nearly 70 and it's time I grew up.

Just let the hate consume us like in the 90s

A large chunk of our fanbase aren’t nearly as obsessed with Wednesday’s fortunes as they used to be circa 15-20 years ago. I can’t remember the last time the kop burst into a “Sheffield Wednesday’s fucked it up again!” chant when news filtered through that they were losing.

I’ve had a great week taking the piss,it’s been great watching them squirm ,it doesn’t matter to me that they had a good night last night,Wednesday are totally irrelevant to what the Blades have achieved this season,as my daughter said “have they won the champions league again ?”
Paulhalfway-where do you get this Wednesday are a big club from ? Same as us ,a good medium sized club with great support .
He's probably a pig

People need to realise a lot can change in football... for example...

In 1 year from now they could be above us (if we went down, they go up this month and then get promotion again next season)

Not likely to happen, but it's why football is the best sport in the world.

If we hadn't got promoted
Next seasons budget would have seen us start the slide into obscurity unless some miracle happened like another wilder came along

As it happens it didn't , which should be something to be happy about ( I know I know )

Anyway the moral.of the story is a healthy hatred of the pigs helps you keep things in perspective

WE HATE WEDNESDAY !!!

At school in the late 70's/ early 80's, it wasn't fun being a Blade. I had the piss mercilessly ripped out of me, and was bullied over it. Especially around Christmas 1979.

That hatred for their club and some of their fans cuts deep. I want them to suffer, for eternity.

It's been a common theme with the 'nearly' clubs in recent years. Reading, Derby and even our neighbours can tell you how destructive a failure to get promoted can be if you've spunked your wad trying to achieve it. Huddersfield are a more recent example.

If this time next season we're on 25 points and relegated, at least we'll go back to the Championship with a competitive budget and a few of our promising U23's shall be about ready for Championship football.

Hecky, his staff & players have ensured that our worst case scenarios are a whole lot better.

it was particularly annoying as it was seemingly dead, and can't stand them having anything to shout about, that's it.

but yes, it would be good to get a takeover sorted now and push on.
