We have a problem with Cooper

He's carried the team through 2 seasons of not being able to create without him. Feels particularly spiteful that so many people are happy to say "fuck him, get rid" now the team has finally been sent out to attack as a collective.

As one of the 4 most attacking players, we'd be mad to just bomb him out. We have still only beaten 3 of the top 16 teams/1 of the top 8. We are going to need his quality.
I do agree but such is the world. Once the honeymoon period dies and you settle in you kinda forget his abilities specially when there are other players capable of scoring too.

If we can keep him it's a huge benefit however it is weird to have the comfort of knowing if he does depart we aren't entirely up shit creek like we tended to have been in the past when the big name goes.

The fact that we restricted them to only one shot on target is partly due to Cooper claiming so many crosses
A lot of those were incredibly poor crosses you’d be fuming at the keeper if they didn’t claim.

He’s either playing through injury or trying to play his way into form, either way he needs taking out of the team for a couple of games. I wouldn’t say we need to replace him but we need a reliable back up that isn’t Adam Davies. Someone like a Forster or Begovic with lots of experience that can drop in for a game or two.

You obviously don’t understand the stats. They are based on the ability of an average keeper to save the shots that actually arrive at him on target. Statistically, the more you face the more accurate is the stat on your ability as a keeper. The fact that Coops is minus 9 and yet we are only minus 7 against xga as a team means that the rest of the defence is actually slightly above average.

Coops consistently ranked 5 last year and has consistently ranked 24 this year. That is not a drop in form, it is a significant drop in ability. His body is not allowing him to do what he could last year. He clearly needs some sort of op which is being delayed.

I understand that bit, if the defence and midfield stop all shots you aren’t going to have any work to do

If the defence stop all the shots you have no rating. The rating only depends on the shots that reach you and how many of those the “average” keeper would save. Last year, over the whole season, Coops prevented 6 more goals than the average keeper. So far this season he has prevented 9 goals less than the average keeper.

Did you see the Leicester keeper play the ball to one of our players on countless occasions?
Don’t really care about the opposition, this was a discussion about Cooper. He’s clearly a class keeper when fit and firing but his kicking last night was about 5/10. He skewed several straight out of play, nearly missed one altogether and generally looked rattled when under pressure. Surely that is just down to practicing what is a fundamental skill for a modern jeeper?…….Unless he’s carrying an injury.

And it went right in the bottom corner after being deflected. One other point for all you Gordon Banks's.We got him from Plymouth Argyle for less than £4 million, not Real Madrid???
I'm not comparing him to a Real Madrid keeper, or Gordon Banks.
Im comparing him to that £4m signing from Plymouth that played for us last year.

If he is injured and it certainly looks like something is wrong then it's likely hes not training properly and is being kept 'sound' for matches. Both those factors would account for a drop off in form. Whatever the problem is it doesn't appear to be improving so surely he needs to get it sorted unless the 'medical experts ' have said it can wait until the summer.

He was playing in a team that was shite ! It effects goalkeepers as well ,since we turned our season around he has been steadier.
Lets not get carried away! he is not England class good shot stopper but his weaknesses are : cant command his area stuggles with corners when put under pressure.: his kicking and distribution is not great with modern day goalies expected to us the ball to set an attack up.
Two weaknesses which hold him back as a top keeper! Having said all that hes as good as we will get at this level
unless we go up a level and the pay structure is advanced.

After re-watching the game last night would disagree that he looked "rattled under pressure'. I think only one kick went out of play, on the right - not several. Apart from one miskick (which was then dealt with) he looked assured.

If I had time I'd put together a video of all his touches during the game. It was a solid performance

From memory, he sliced two kicks. One went central-ish , the other to the right side. Both got mopped up, but could have been bad. Luckily not.
First half corner he jumped and didn't make it to the ball, but there was a free kick for something else.
It's the worst position on the pitch for minor errors having big consequences, so he's going to be under the microscope in that respect. Certainly need a back up if he needs some recovery time or an op.

Well,we got Grybic from Athletico Madrid, look how he turned out.
As I said yesterday,he didn’t set himself properly,he was 2 yards of his line when the shot came from 25 yards,he should have been 6 and saved it. He’s a cracking keeper but having trouble movement wise.

Maybe my perception then. I was sat behind the goal so was judging on the direction he kicked. The punts upfield, when he had time, were decent, but he wasn’t comfortable when faced with a pressing player and just seemed happy to launch it. It’s such an important part of the modern goalkeepers skills, he needs to practice. He just doesn’t seem to have that bounce of last season about him so something seems up?
