I don't wanna turn it into an 'anti fans'/Pro fans argument and I'm not for a second linking it to the result... But 30k fans in the stadium and being able to hear the defenders during the first half isn't delivering.

Tbf foxy what happens on the pitch turn's up the sound we were rubbish today
 
Did you really expect more than 30,000 in Bramall Lane get the result they wanted ?
When there's real pressure on at home and they can't do it. They've shown it no end of times, even Chesterfield on their way to non league football frightened us to death in the last home game in League One

25,000 turn up in silence and we'll probably win
30,000 + turn up in expectation and you know what happens

If we end up in the play offs it'll be no different, the fear of losing will override everything

Yeah, they've been wank all season and were only second having politely requested the backing to help push them through the final games... Had scored earlyish and Leeds had gone behind.

No wonder it was quiet :)

I didn’t think the atmosphere started off crap but the play dictated it and It’s been a lot worse in other games this season, a number of times the crowd tried to lift the players and they gave the impression of still being on the Spanish beach,

It is a concer no matter who the manager/player are...the team on the pitch seems to shit the bed when it counts. I remember Stevenage a few years ago...a similair scenario.

Agreed, but isn't it a chicken or the egg situation to who gets the crowd going, players or crowd?
 
There have been some horrendous atmospheres this season, I don't think that was one.

Regardless, the players shouldn't need 29,000 people cheering them on for them to be able to do their jobs. I think they were substandard today in the important moments and that costs games whatever the atmosphere.

Ricky won't agree but we seem to get on fine when there's 25k there putting no pressure on the team by being reserved.
 
The atmosphere got killed a few times in the first half when we had good opportunities to attack up the left, the south stand roared on some good play, the overlap was on and the ball was immediately knocked back into our own half, you could almost see people being visibly deflated.

It did go quiet a few times, but the atmosphere was generally fine, the noise from the kop actually carried to the other end for a change, which meant G and H could join in with songs (if a little belatedly) and there were some joining in in the upper tier and corner

I think that's being a bit disrespectful to blade's they did try and lift the atmosphere South stand was quite noisy at times today as I said team were rubbish today

The crowd started in great voice but being outplayed and shit defending is not conducive to vociferous support
Anyone having a go at fans today needs to give their head a wobbble.

The atmosphere wasn't 'crap'

We can always say it could be better but I genuinely wonder what measures people use.

Quiet periods happen in every game.

I certainly don't think today was a great atmosphere but it was noisier than quite a few this season, and by our standards it was a bit of a frustrating performance.

At least we had no booing like we've had in previous seasons after one bad result.

It was deafening at times, but quiet for much longer periods. And that’s because Bristol were playing really well for most of it and tbf deserved the 3 points.
 
The way I saw it was, after the great early start (with the crowd in good voice), the players started panicking, ceding possession and territory to City. That nervousness from the players fed into the crowd, not the other way around.

It's hard to keep a raucous atmosphere going when you're watching you team give the ball away every five seconds.

The fans are not going to be singing and roaring the team on when we can't get the ball and we are being outplayed it doesn't work like that anywhere, nothing at all wrong with the fans. The team needs to take a look at itself and ask if they did enough to get anything out of that game, I think around 29,000 will say they didn't looked more like they were strolling on a Spanish beach to be honest.
