We ARE Sheffield.

Now don’t get me wrong, I get really pissed off when commentators and pundits refer to us as Sheffield, and someone else as United, especially when it’s a team playing us that was originally called Newton Heath LYR Football Club, but hear me out.

When they call us Sheffield, for the world watching it means the city. All of it. East to west, north to South, football fans around the world are calling us Sheffield, because we are the city’s team. We are the footballing heartbeat of this city. We definitely are United, and we are Sheffield. And over at the Estadio Rustico, staring down the barrel of a huge point deduction and the truly dismal future that holds, they may just slowly be grasping that they are not even a second thought now. They’re a footnote, and we are the headlines.

We are Sheffield United. We are United. Sheffield is us, and we are Sheffield.
