We are going nowhere....who's at fault?

Agreed Deadbat we are not a top two side yet.

Even Crewe fans were pointing out that we needed to be more clinical in front of goal. We had some glorious chances yesterday having watched the highlights earlier despite that penalty save.

Start McNuts and we should start going through the gears. The ability in the squad is there to turn teams over 3 or 4 nil because our midfield are creating the chances often enough.

I thought 2 of our best players yesterday were Murphy and Basham ,2 players I didn't think would be good enough and are proving me wrong. Maybe the point of me putting this thread back up is we shouldn't all be so reactionary to one bad result and have a bit of patience and remember it is a 46 game season. Also to rub those smug wankers from Chesterfields nose in it a bit.

some have rated Basham from early days - he does have qualities that can be used all over the park - a good all round player.

As for the wankers at Chesterfield - agree totally, but lets be right, if the ref had sent their centre half off for bringing down murph at 0-0 we would have won by bucket loads.

Interesting to note improvements since Collins has been taken out. Perception is he a solid centre back but my opinion is he was done a season or so ago and Maguire carried him for quite a while. He defends too deep and means we invite pressure. The back line has played higher up in the last few games and compressed the play.

I thought Collins was doing OK, but was probably wrong. Either way, the "too deep" observation is spot on, and defending higher up is probably really helping us.

We could all do with being more patient, but lack of patience comes with supporting (probably) the most underachieving club in the English game. And the criticism about us being too negative and making too many changes still holds true. A play-off spot in England's third division isn't going to put that to bed.

Having said the above, it all feels a bit better than it did 3 weeks ago, doesn't it?

Fair do's. Since the Chesterfield result; Clough has got some consistent results and better performances.

I dont think the post I made or reactions was on one result. We had lost heavily away at Swindon and looked a shadow of the side from last season.

Still do not think we look a top two side but credit where it is due; we have put some decent results together. Ultimately I will wait till we play some of the better teams (we have played 3 sides I believe will be in the bottom half and 2 that will go down I feel) before I get too carried away. Big two local derbies coming up. Take 4 points from those will set us up nicely as we move into December. I still feel we need a couple more players and some consistency (although getting there) to get in the top two.

I still think we need a couple of players but we are better than anyone else for strength in depth and this will now really start to kick in. We must treat this division as a league though spread over 46 games ,a lot of critics treat every game as a cup game and go over the top in victory or defeat.

Have you been in the shoutbox during a game Sitters? Now that is cringeworthy! :)

This thread is starting to look a tad premature, thank goodness.

Worth reading through again.

Edit:
Whoops sorry that point was made the other day I see.

This thread can be put to bed until the next defeat now. Until a poor run of form.Meanwhile I will stay quiet. But as long as you all remember that I knew all along that we are crap..cos I will be saying it again..as appropriate.

Whisper it, but Basham reminds me a bit of Bob Booker...
