If there is any slight glimmer of hope - and I say this as someone who predicted in the pre-season poll that we’d be relegated in 18th spot - it possibly can be found in the fact that in this particular season, 3 other clubs have also started worse than the
standard of usual relegation fodder.

Ordinarily, one would expect the strugglers to be at or around a point per game - so, 10 or 11 points at this stage. As it is, Fulham, WBA and Burnley are bumbling along at 4 or 5 points below that level, and we can probably count ourselves fortunate to be ‘only’ 2 results adrift having had such an unbelievably diabolical start.

I know some Blades, such as Silent, have suggested that it may require a relatively low amount of points to get 17th this season, and they may be right. Certainly, notwithstanding Fulham’s little flurry of form, I see both them and WBA going down with 20-odd. Ultimately, they both have Championship standard defences.

That said, I can’t help feeling that Burnley will improve and are street-wise enough to grind out plenty more results than the other two.

Given that we currently have zero win, despite 11 attempts, many of them against poor or mediocre sides, I'd suggest 17th is miles off, relatively speaking.

We are very weak left hand side ie lowe.brian .fleck out of sorts.not just his mistake v leicester.think these are weakest areas for last two games.think our luck was in against leicester .untill that 90th minute.so it will change .utb

Hello, Stegosaurus here,

I can't see us picking up two wins. We lost and barely scraped a draw due to dodgy penalty vs the other two shit teams.

We seem to play better once we go behind.not that it gains us anything .

Brighton and Burnley are the fixtures we need to go all out to win in December, anything else would be a massive bonus. 7 or 8 points on the board keeps us in the scrap and then gives us 5 months to get to 40 points.

All of the above seems highly unlikely at the moment, but I can't see things being this bad for the rest of the season and a couple of new faces in January might give us a bit of a lift.

We'll pick up wins, whether it will be enough is doubtful.

2 wins off 17th looks positive

If we had won 5 so far we would be mid-table

1 point out of a possible 33 does not

I reckon our first win will be against Bristol Rovers.

My positive spin. :)

Might as well being 5 nos.short of winning lottery 😉

2 wins doesn't sound much until you realise it's 15 and 16 league games ago since this happened

After game week 10 West Ham were 5 points off top of the league. I'm all for optimism, I usually always am for United too. I wouldn't say this point which keeps being raised annoys me but, how are we going to get those 6 points, from what we've seen this season. Bearing in mind the teams around us need to lose too. If we drew yesterday then maybe I would agree then you. However, I feel that kind of sums up why we won't do that. Those are the sort of games you need to grind out. Vadry scoring the winner just sums it up really. Glad you are still optimistic, hopefully I can regain that soon too!

Hello, Stegosaurus here

Be careful. The tibfoil hat wearers here who see Wednesday fans lurking behind every tree will call you "pork" or something else unoriginal

hello Stegosaurus - are you a relation of that dinosaur called Anthonyrichardpulisaurus ?

Just asking for a friend - think he might be a tinfoil hat wearer but could be mistaken.
