We all know that Sander Berge wouldnt get a place in the England squad if he was English.

Berge has 3 performances in his locker

A - Deep lying Midfielder, always in space, gets the ball finds a teammate

B - Dynamic all action, 40 yards runs where no one can get the ball off him, arriving late in box to slot one home, hitting 50 yard passes with little effort

C - 6 Foot 5 traffic cone

For Saturday I’m going for C, but you never know

I'd much rather watch Berge on the right wing than Saka. Berge was a joy to watch on the wing, and would get more goal contributions than Saka.

England have a strong team and will be favourites.

I reckon some Blades will view Berge's performances as underwhelming, but keep in mind he's playing to very different instructions and he isn't just valued by his individual contribution, but by his team's success. Part of Norway's tactics against Brazil was to wear them out, play long lasting attacks, and eventually punish their vulnerable defence and mediocre press. Berge had a hand in that, making 117 passes I think, and although they may have looked easy, sideways and backwards, that was part of the plan.

Tomorrow will be a different game and I wonder how many times Norway can raise their game. For us it's an amazing occasion after so many years without taking part in a tournament. I'd have liked to add more, but I'm on holiday at my home town and a bit busy! 😀
You need to start drinking in Wilder's local. If you can handle your ale and gin he'll give you a job and you can explain to him what tactics are

I think Berge should be semi-disappointed he hasn't played at a higher level than he has. Physically he has everything. Technically excellent as well. Just something missing in terms of aggression and mindset.

Give him Haaland's mentality and he's playing for one of the best clubs in Europe.

We don't have a single defender that is remotely world class. For Norway not to have any that would beat out any of ours would be shocking.

Yeh all the it’s coming home nonsense and other songs I can happily never hear again

Along with the every English player would get into any side because of premier league or English side won one of the secondary European trophies
Do you not sing songs about SUFC being the greatest club in the world? It's coming home is no different imo, it's about hope and support, not entitlement and arrogance.

England have one of the best squads in the tournament, and most fans from other countries agree.

Its all a question of Who you're good with. Berge beside Ødegaard been a good match. Berge is effeciently doing his Job with Norway. Berg done fine aswell, first choice Aursnes(Benfica cpt and playmaker) to similar to Ødegaard. Brasil had they're lowest posession ever vs Norway wich is probably verste for them than loosing

I know we aren’t and I know that I’m not telling other fans that we are

England fans have an arrogance about them like what the pigs do without either deserving it

I’m not criticising or saying they shouldn’t, I just get that it’s more talk than walking the walk at moment

Fair enough, I just don't see that in the England fans I know who are more in line with the Three Lions song you mentioned.

I think the song is constantly misunderstood, usually by non-English listeners who read an arrogance into it which just isn't there. It's a song about us being consistently shit and disappointing, with a nostalgia for past glories and dreams of success in the future (and us hosting the tournament, celebrating our creation of the sport.)

Oh trust me I get the song from the songwriters point, and I get that some fans will see it likewise but I also get that for some it’s a we invented it therefore etc

When in reality the World Cup was a French creation and one England didn’t bother with until 1950 wasn’t it

Sander was exactly the wrong player for us…we needed a new Mark Duffy not a new Keith Eddy

Has anybody said “it’s a poor World Cup this year” yet like we do every year about the Championship?

Also the “it’s coming home” refrain from Three Lions is in relation to Euro 96 being played in England rather than anything else (even if some people have appropriated it differently). That and World in motion are fantastic football/pop crossovers. Bin that off and you are left with the England/Pig band dirge being played in pubs before matches.

Will Norway be deploying Sorloth as a wide target man like they used to with this fella?...do we need Dan Burn in at left back?

The Man City lad is a tall guy and may also restrict Sørloth. Sørloth hasn't been as effective out wide as he was in the qualifying matches, and he was taken off at half time for a very different wide man in Bobb.

I watched the last norway game with an eye on berge throughout the game.
He never won a tackle and never won a header despite being 6’5”.
What he did do consistently and regularly was to receive the ball, look around and find a player. 1 TC pass and the rest were short accurate passes and always found a man without putting the recipient in danger.
Top footballer.
Compliments the team.
Wish we still had him.

Does the simple things ...
Never really effects the game

It always makes me laugh how people don't understand "Football's coming home". It's a fantastic piece of self deprecating English humour; it's about always finding a way to lose but going into each new tournament with the never ending optimism of a fan. It's the opposite of arrogance. Coming home means returning to the place football originated ( not a trophy returning to the place it belongs).
I hope it never dies because it's hilarious seeing people misinterpreting it.

Typical arrogant English nonsense. It's very much a 50/50 game imho.

We have a good opportunity to reach the final, especially if we can get through injuries and suspensions, but so do the other 3 in our half of the draw.

My money would still be on a France Argentina final again but with a different outcome this time.

However, stranger things have happened and maybe Spain squeeze through with their defensive record and we get our own back from the last Euros with the irony of a German manager winning our first trophy in 60 years.

I know many of us are desperate to see England win something in our lifetimes but I can't be the only one who gets fed up of the 'It's coming home' and 'of course we can win it' every time we reach a QF. Just enjoy the ride, don't get ahead of yourself, and hope for the best. There's a reason other countries take the piss out of us.

I liked it at the time but I'd happily not hear it again until we finally win something.
Of course we can win it. It’s coming home. 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿🏠

I think you have taken what Baddiel and skinner have said about it and assumed millions of others use it in that same way personally

Which is fine, each to their own
