WBA Away Thoughts.

In almost dreading watching it, our games are so shit to watch and have been for a year or so. Were decent in defence so limit the opposition to a few chances but we also create sod all maybe 1 or 2 shots on goal a game if we're lucky. We must be the most boring side in all 4 divisions
We are awful to watch, with no quick players or creative players, you have to wonder where the next goal is coming from.

Is it the manager or the players ?

Both teams have followed a similar path, relegated and needing a new manager.

WBA ended up with Val we ended up with Slav.

I wanted us to get Val,infact i started a thread about him ages ago, replies were if we get Val we get Hoof (Barnsley) was posted about him,but that is bye the bye now.

So both teams have good squads of players, and both teams have new managers applying their own way of playing.

WBA have had better results than us and are scoring goals and conceding it should be said, but they are looking good we are looking poor.

Is it the manager or the players,i would say the players they are not as good as we thought they were, but its early days in the campaign.

-------------------Bsaham---------------------------------Egan-----------------------------------------Davies----------------

---Baldock--------------------------Norwood------------------------------Berge-----------------------------------Osborn---

I don't expect much. And really, it will result in Norwood dropping deep to collect the ball off the back three and pumping it into the channels, once again. The only way this changes is if we sign Viera and he is a ball carrier and can work with Berge and McGoldrick to exploit central routes to goal to either play in McBurnie or Brewster. Don't think Bogle is an option at the moment unless on late and maybe get an appearance for RND for Osborn. But we have to not concede. Difficult with a new CB and just two days to get him bedded in but we just have to limit their chances, concentrate and fucking defend. We can't afford a goal like Brums to drift in.

0-0. I hope

This one comes as a big surprise to me .

It’s got Wilderball Lite written all over it . :)

Lose by 2 or 3 unfortunately.
Really hoping to see a return to 3 at the back, maybe the 3-5-2 system returning, or a version of it anyway.....?

Hopefully Sky will finally realise this and stop putting us on the TV so much

I think it could be similar to last season, they pin us back first half possibly go in ahead. We try and equalise second half but lack of quality in front of goal means we lose 1-0. We come away positivish because there's signs of improvement, but then remember were on 1 point after 3 and start panicking on here.

I'm sure you're all feeling positive after reading that

Everyone thinks we will lose this but if we win it will turn our bad start around and bring us level with them, big incentive

It's all we have with no midfield options.

Sign Viera and jettison Norwood and the whole thing changes

But surely the danger with your formation is that what started off with the best of intentions as a 3-4-1-2 could quickly revert to a 5-3————-2 like last year and we are back to where we were , which is not where we want to be , no ?

It's quite simple for me - just don't concede.

We need confidence after the last 18 months.

Even if we start slowly it doesn't matter - we must be solid.

Both Norwich and Watford started slowly and built themselves into the season.

Would take a boring 0-0 again ang 3 difficult games out of the way. We then have a number of easier opponents to play. Of course no game is easy, but we should go into the next 6/7/8 games with confidence that every one is 3 points IF we apply ourselves correctly.

HAVE to score.

Only team in the Championship to not have done so, and we don’t look like it either.

We don’t need the pressure of building milestones up early on.

Agree but don't think we will, we've just got out of the habit of scoring and winning regularly, we're in the football equivalent of purgatory

Something nil them. They are too good for us at the moment I fear.

Hopefully we have been pursuing other targets whilst this Vieira saga has been playing out.

Can't see us creating many chances and our conversion rate is appalling currently, so my head says blades 'nil' - I just hope Ben Davies is fit and gets off to a solid relationship with Egan and Bash to keep a clean sheet (3-5-2).

I think a 0 - 0 is the best we can hope for.
I think their press will put so much pressure on our midfield, it will totally nullify what strengths we have.
Will be a real back to the walls defensive effort tonight.
Can you imagine Norwood vs the West Brom press. Giving me sweats just thinking about it

Might as well throw him in. Not being match fit is less of a worry at CB - see if we can get 60/70 mins from him. Only one way he's going to get match fit is playing. I'd start with a back 3 of Bash-Egan-Davies. Do everything we can to protect the keeper who is likely to be Verrips or Foderingham

Just our luck Davies will pull something and be out for 6 months

Agree on the need to be solid, but we also need to start finding the net.

Would happily take a low scoring draw, 1-1 or 2-2. That would give the front line some confidence, and I think the defence could take that small hit, especially as we haven't shipped goals for a long time really.
