Watkins, Cash and Robinson wages

Does anyone really believe we should have matched or beaten Villa’s and Fulham’s wages on offer for these players?

Just for reference they are reportedly on:
Watkins: 75k
Cash: 65k
Robinson: 55k

Not one person here in the summer complained about us not paying those ridiculous figures. But now it’s an argument for ‘Wilder not being backed’ in the summer.

It’s not an issue for Villa or Fulham’s owners, they are absolutely loaded.
The Prince isn’t, and even if he was - would we want a relegated championship left back to become our highest earner on 55k? How would that go down with the squad who we’ve bleated the importance of this ‘wage structure’ to for 4 years?

Would we really have preferred the Prince to spend money we don’t have on the contracts of players who we don’t know are good enough for the league? Potentially risking the future of the club financially.

It becomes an argument when people slag his recruitment and praise Smith et al's.

Its the biggest stick hes been beat with, when all his first choice targets have come in and done well elsewhere.

I dont think we should have bought them btw, the future of the club is most important

I like Ramsdale. And I think Brewster will be a good player.
But we could’ve took Ben Foster for 2m for example and then you’ve got 16m left for a midfielder or 2. That’s without that 23m we wasted on Brewster.
No I agree, foster was my first choice for that reason too. However it turned out he only just signed a contract with Watford on high wages. Then it comes down to are we allowed to go over the wage limit if the fee is smaller it appears not. Our signings tend to fit the mould of expensive because young but low wages because unproven. I think that's all we could do.

Actually think about what you’re posting before you do next time. Jags 50k. Dear oh dear.
You’re a strange one 🤣

I find some figures on google and post them (never said they were fact !) and you post figures from random sites doing the same thing as me ... and then have a pop at me 🤣🤣🤣🤣

You’re nowt no more than a spamming WUM !

I don't believe for 1 second that the Board would have paid anywhere near the wages that Watkins, Cash, Souchek, and Robinson are reputed to be on ......

We can't compete with Fulham or villa financially that is just a fact of life ,a sad fact of life but true nonetheless

Harder to take because we had surpassed them and showed how its done but our lack of resources was always going to catch up with us somehow
Both those clubs went down last time with the kind of debts that would put us out of existence and while I'm not sure we are exactly financially in norwichs position we are much better off than when wilder came in and with some good decision making we could look to emulate than and build sustainabily to be one of the top twenty four clubs in the country which given our resources and stature is quite an achievement

Nor should they, which is exactly my point

It’s true, I don’t think those players wouldn’t have kept us in the division

Thing is, sadly, if you don't or cant pay the going rate, you don't get the services.

That's life.

We couldn't or wouldn't, and we have to take the consequences.
If we cannot compete, then what is the point of even being there?

That isn’t the going rate it’s an over inflated market. Hence the need for foreign recruitment.

No, but then if the reports that we've been paying Jags £50k are correct then why not?

Btw, if we were to buy Cash or Robinson, then we wouldn't be buying both

The classic case of trying to take the club forward at the same time as balancing the books.

The reports of us paying Jags 50k are obviously ridiculously wide of the mark

I don't always tend to agree with your posts but you're on the money here.

I've seen people saying McCabe would have given Wilder what he wanted. Give your head a wobble if you think that is true. "Cut our cloth accordingly" every time a transfer window came round.

We just need to find out where Brentford go shopping, and go and pinch a few of our own, because they find excellent players who are delighted to sign for them on sensible money, and then when they're WORTH £70k+ cash in and go find some more

Not those 3 players in particular. Wilders biggest mistake is that he didn’t go and get a premier league level playmaker. Instead of going for lingard when we’re already relegated in January, should’ve gone for him in august
